Nice to see the forum back. Shame the data couldn't be preserved. Is there anyway you could maintain backups Asa? Even if they were only done weekly, it would still mean that at least some discussion could be preserved if anything like this happens again
Yes, quite a shame. Though it will be interesting to start fresh ... I have a feeling this little inadvertant hiccup might weed out a lot of the dead wood in this place.
Incidentally, I know you said you won't plan to restore registration and post count information unless there a lot of interest, well can I register my interest in that now and ask that should you decide to go ahead with it, my registration date is 27 December 2001 and my post count is 1906 + whatever this new one gets up to.

Yeah I could see that happening with certain names, perhaps people who have registered before with 'tv' names but could now register under actual names, I know I would have been pretty anoyyed if someone got mine!
Then theres the few idiots that the forum attracts that could deliberately steal other peoples.
It's really strange seeing this forum with very few posts in though...but let's hope that we get back to the high standard of posting exhibited by most of us before the crash.

I can't really see the appeal in post counts, its a waste of time for Asa to update them, this oppourtunity should be used to start afresh.
I think it's alright for joined dates to be restored though, as it gives members an idea of how long they've been around. My original joining date is
