Can we all agree this has been the worst year ever for Christmas ads? If not, than a particularly poor one?
Some are good, some are okay, some are a bit crap, but it’s not the worst ever? Christmas ads have always been special (e.g. the coke ad and the toys r us ad) but they’ve not always been a spectacle as they are nowadays, it only really kickstarted still quite recently with the hype surrounding the John Lewis ads.
Sainsbury’s however really has cocked it up for themselves this year, to become as big as a competitor in the ad game against John Lewis over the last few years and then produce something that doesn’t even go near last years is an extremely puzzling move... I don’t understand what they were expecting

The Sainsbury's ad is the least pretentious of them all. It's basic but good fun. And they're clever because the ad is being played over social media too with people having the opportunity to join in with the karaoke version. It reminds me of the old fashioned Woolworths ads of the early 80's.
