The BBC have a lot of their main faces on today. Bill on Breakfast, Jon Sopel (9-1) and Jane Hill (1-6) on News 24. George Alagiah on BBC One......
It used to be the case that a junior presenter would front ITN and BBC bulletins.
Sky also had Martin Stanford and Kay Burley presenting Sunrise. All having a good time.
Banter between Bill and the weather girl was rather amusing, with her threatening to chase Bill all morning with some mistletoe.
BBC World have also tried to keep regular presenters on again this year - Lucy Hockings, Lyse Doucet, Nik Gowing and Anita McNaught for today. I remember a few years ago, they had Jane Hill, Peter Dobbie and Liz Pike on World - now they try to stick to their own presenters.
Bill and Carol were great this morning - I tuned in just when Bill said Carol's sister had e-mailed in telling Bill to stop teasing Carol, or something to that effect.
I did email poor Jon to wish him a merry christmas and commiserations that he was working today. He replied wishing me a merry christmas etc and thanked me for the "kind thought/sympathy", lol. I do feel sorry for people that have to work today, but I suppose that someone has to do it and that there is probably a relaxed more jovial atmosphere, although today's news is rather glum. All newsreaders are doing a sterling job taking into account they'd most probably be elsewhere.
Call me a cynic, but enhanced pay rates for today may well be enough incentive for many people to avoid the christmas charade.
I myself worked today doing the ITV weathers at LNN. Easy shift, more cash - fine.
Strange goings on at the weather centre. They've got through four presenters already - Carol, John, Phillip, Rob, and usually News 24 has only 4 in a day - and its not into the fourth ones shift yet?!

Yeah, Christmas day is an utterly boring affair for me. The manic prezzie opening in the morning, and then a huge anti-climax.
It dosen't help when your girlfriend is 150 miles away and you're missing her loads!

Pah. Mine's 400 miles away.
I'm with fernando, though - I really wouldn't be particularly bothered about working on Christmas Day or even over New Year. (The price of drink seems to go up quite a bit on Hogmanay, so I'd rather be earning some dosh and getting better value for money on a decent night out at some other time of year..)
