One thing I've always wondered about Strictly - is the voiceover from Deadly Alancoat live? When the Saturday night National Lottery draws were still a thing and he would provide a clearly live VO there, and I think at the time I therefore assumed that Strictly was live also - obviously there are no TV draws anymore which has made me question the whole thing.
Even when there were live lottery draws its been a long time since they were done in the same building as Strictly, if they ever were
Pretty certain that Alan pre-records his voice overs for Strictly, just as he does for DWTS.
You can also tell that some of Tess's and Claudia's VO is pre-recorded as well as they are moving and not talking when you hear it (couples introduction at the top of the show). I imagine the phone numbers are also pre-recorded VO during the recaps.
They always sound too polished and detached from the atmosphere in the studio to be live. I'd imagine paying for him to do it live plus rehearsals on the day wouldn't be a good use of their budget
Of course Deadly's voiceovers aren't live. Which is a shame really, because it would add something to the show if Tess and Claudia could interact with him.
I’ve always found any interaction between in vision presenters and a voice over a bit odd. It always seemed to be like an unseen heckler when Mitch used to interact on Live and Kicking for example.

?? The fact Mitch was never seen was part of the charm IMO.

Compared to Peter Dickson's X Factor voiceover, where he only really announces the name of the act and can so be very easily recorded, there is more variety in Deadicoat's VO, as a new VO has to be recorded for the dance each couple is performing every week, along with stuff for the top of the show 'Live from the BBC' etc, which makes a live VO more sensible. Above all, It's the pauses between him announcing the names of the judges if there's a big reaction to a particular score that make it seem live to me (along with a different 'will the judges please present their scores' line beforehand), but equally these could just be someone waiting to cue a particular sound clip!
I'm almost certain in one episode it was either Tess or Bruce actually spoke to Alan and he replied which would suggest his VO is done live or at least it was previously.
Or he happened to be there once for that skit, or it was a pre-prepared question with a pre-prepared answer
Some of the 'star guest announcers' on Takeaway have been recorded in the past but Ant & Dec would still talk to them. (I was never a fan, if you are there to promote your new film you can at least turn up at 7pm on Saturday)

Prior to the 2013 revival of Takeaway, I think the star guest announcer was always recorded as it was in a completely separate broom cupboard style studio. 2013 onward they have almost always been in the studio doing it live. The only exception I can think of is when it was first brought back a few weeks in Ricky Gervais did it the old style separate studio way. I don't think they have done it again since then (Which has lead to some absolutely dreadful reads by some of the announcers!)
I would suspect Alan does the Strictly annoucements in pretty much the same way David Kaye does the intros for the 'And now..This' segment on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.
Kaye doesn't go to the CBS Broadcast Centre in New York every Sunday. The production team e-mails him the script, he dials them up from his home studio in LA via ISDN line, and the package producer in NY hits 'Rec' on the digital editing software and away he goes, with instant direction via talkback.
So once Strictly celeb has been paired with dance, that script is send to Deadly to record and sent back to the production hub at Elstree Studios - or, most likely, he goes to downtown Shenley Road once a week and records the reqired annos in a dubbing suite.
I think it’s possible Alan did Strictly live when both Strictly and the Lottery were live from TVC and it became pre-recorded once the Lottery moved. But don’t forget Alan has also always done Dancing with the Stars in the US which he’s always recorded.
