The new set is great and the studio looks huge. Will be interesting to see how many shows end up using this LH2 (or whatever it’s called).

Remember, it's not a studio - it's a warehouse with a nice flat floor, a roof designed to hang lots of stuff off, and a few basic office and changing areas. It's main purpose is to practice large touring shows, so it spends more time with sweaty crew trying to work out how to fit 10 trucks worth of stuff into 6 trucks than actually hosting events.

True but with such a lack of studio space in London now it’s not unthinkable that this will be used by more and more shows. This is the second show to use it after The Voice (and Voice Kids).

Rumoured that Simon will miss tonight’s show too - read that Alisha Dixon is standing in given its his category performing tonight.

Bit naughty on the freeview guide of having "The X Factor Live" on the afternoon repeats.

What was wrong with Simon's Mouth last night?

He was talking on one side of his face with a lisp and it looked as though he was wearing false teeth?

Didn't anyone else spot this?

There was reports he suffered a fall at his home last week, maybe it was to do with that?

LH2 Studio is not right. They should have moved to Pinewood Studios with two TV studios each over 8,900 Sq Ft which could have easily accommodated the X Factor. Simon apparently wanted to use George Lucas Stage 1 at Elstree, however the BBC made sure that was out of the question, as Strictly is right next door in George Lucas Stage 2. Imagine these two shows side by side.

Television Centre's Studio 1 will become useful next year with its large space. Studio 2 and 3 at Television Centre will become unavailable when ITV daytime moves in by Spring 2018 and will remain there for at least four years, meaning the Studio 3 which is the right size for sitcoms, quizzes and talkshows will not be readily available.

One thing I've always wondered about Strictly - is the voiceover from Deadly Alancoat live? When the Saturday night National Lottery draws were still a thing and he would provide a clearly live VO there, and I think at the time I therefore assumed that Strictly was live also - obviously there are no TV draws anymore which has made me question the whole thing.

Compared to Peter Dickson's X Factor voiceover, where he only really announces the name of the act and can so be very easily recorded, there is more variety in Deadicoat's VO, as a new VO has to be recorded for the dance each couple is performing every week, along with stuff for the top of the show 'Live from the BBC' etc, which makes a live VO more sensible. Above all, It's the pauses between him announcing the names of the judges if there's a big reaction to a particular score that make it seem live to me (along with a different 'will the judges please present their scores' line beforehand), but equally these could just be someone waiting to cue a particular sound clip!

Funny you ask that question, I was thinking the same last night. Found an interview with Alan on YouTube who confirms that he pre-records the voiceovers. He talks about it around the 6 minute mark below:

He also provides the voice overs on the US version of SCD, Dancing with the Stars. I assume he’s never been anywhere near the VO booth for that production!

I'm almost certain in one episode it was either Tess or Bruce actually spoke to Alan and he replied which would suggest his VO is done live or at least it was previously.
