But there are no strong characters this year, either. In fact John and Edward (the twins) are stronger characters than most of the other final 24! At least they have a personality. There also doesn't seem to be anyone over the age of 30, and no strong, independent women that stand out like there were last year. It's all just so samey.

It's a singing competition not a Butlins talent parade - which of course John and Edward would be better suited to. They are awful, but keeping them in the show gets the show publicity..thats all I can see.

As for strong independent women..? Have you been watching the same show as everyone else?

Confirmed at the end of tonight's show: new look live shows. Wonder how much that set will have changed?

I noticed the V/O said "Join us for the new look X Factor next week' Maybe that has something to do with the new stage? I remember people saying it would look different this year?

Also, at the end, the wipe looked different to what I've seen before. Do you think they would launch new titles at the start of the live finals maybe?

I think new titles are more likely than totally new set, so yep

I heard somebody say the old titles would be used for the audition shows, with new titles then being introduced for the live shows.

If I recall correctly they did that in the past when the title sequence was altered.

They did that back in series 3 when these titles were introduced, holding them back for the live shows. It's been confirmed (by the tabloid press! ) they'll be a new set - don't know if new titles have been confirmed though.

Back to the final 12 - Dannii was the only persons whose decisions I agreed with 100%, and I do think she has the strongest category myself. Simon's have all peaked too soon, and I think he made a mistake not putting Nicole through as the three lads will likely take votes off each other. Really not liking Daniel Johnson either - Susan Boyle effect I think, hyped up to be something much more than he actually is after his first audition.

The groups - well, no chance of winning but either the twins or Miss Frank should make the final IMO. Wouldn't have put the strippers through. And as for the boys - Lloyd is the only one I can see making the final, while Cheryl arguably eliminated her best chance of winning by rejecting Duane. I'm not sure Joseph would have got through if he wasn't a Geordie or Rikki if he wasn't a reject.

No. Not the twins. They are awful.
