Cowell quits Idol, to launch X Factor USA in Fall 2011, which puts a huge question mark over The X Factor UK. Could it lose Cowell, could ITV lose The X Factor, or could it be moved from it's lucrative pre-Christmas slot to avoid losing Cowell, who of course will now be free for the first six months of the year without his commitment to Idol - but then there would be knock on effects for Britain's Got Talent and Dancing on Ice - the latter of which wouldn't really work in the summer.

Well Why not more Dancing on Ice to October - December? that could work there no reason it has to be Jan - March. Brittan got talent could work September - November on Saturdays.
lets be honset its getting to the point where X factor will have been around for 7 years and something will need to give.
It's not beyond comprehension to have both X factors going on at the same time - don't Len and someone else do Strictly and Dancing With The Stars at the same time. I also presume the Idol auditions are going on for at least some of the time of the current UK live shows, so transatlantic travel may not be an issue. I would assume that ITV would have to go back to having the results on the same night as the main show though
The trouble is him flitting between the two makes a mockery of the whole "mentoring" aspect, even though we know Simon is hardly hands on in looking after his contestants (though seemed much more involved this year than in previous years).
Add to that the fact he struggles to remember the names of contestants on one show, his multi-million dollar mind will never cope with two!

Maybe we might get a rest from X factor then in 2011? I have a very funny feeling he will be doing the following
There is chance, He will do both, remember Pop idol is done mid week so:
UK Thursday evening - Monday
Fly:
US: Monday - Thursday:
FLY

If only Concorde was still around it would have helped!

I think that the menotrs and judges should be seperate anyway, keeping the judges impartial.
Could be an idea when Simon could just turn up for the weekend...

but if the judges were impartial it would be too simlar to what Pop Idol was / American Idol is!
The judges mentoring the acts was a key point of the show. I think Sharon Osbourne said a few years back on the live show about Simon flying back and forwards. With Dannii being pregnant (not sure if that's officially confirmed) I'm guessing that will rule her out this year. Shame because she is the hardest working judge, going on what previous contestants have said and seems the most interested. Thus makes way for Victoria Beckham after her audition on American Idol (well that's how I see it)

Fair enough, don't really know a great deal about American Idol, only really saw the UK version & can barely remember that.

If reports are to be believed you have the right band, but the wrong member. Apparently Mel B is to be offered the job (for the second time as well apparently. She was offered Cheryl's job before Cheryl but her "people" turned it flat down without consulting her because they presumed the Spice Girls reunion was really going to take off ala Take That!)
