Sprouts? They generally result in a pleasing parpy sound.

I'm sure Louis would disagree though.

A question, has Peter Dickson always done the voiceover work on The X Factor or has his voice and his famous big introductions only been used in recent years?

It has to be said that the show wouldn't seem the same without the voiceovers thesedays

The VT intros only started in series 5, but looking on YouTube the other day in series 4 the simpler VTs were then followed by a shot of the audience as Peter DIckson introduced the act. Think Kate Thornton introduced them in earlier series.

I remember him doing the pre titles for at least series 3 too, the year Leona and Ray were in the final. "Your Saturday night starts HERE" kind of thing.

Laughing I Just can't handle another year of tosh from the X Factor single. I mean Pop Idol used to write there own songs, and that was kind of good. I'd like to see Jedward back Wink

No they didn't.

Pop Idol winner's songs:
Anything is Possible: Chris Braide and Cathy Dennis
Evergreen: Jörgen Elofsson, Per Magnusson and David Kreuger (both Will Young)
All This Time : Mac/Hector/Tennant (Michelle McManus)

You're probably thinking of Fame Academy
Stop Living the Lie : David Sneddon (Sneddon)
Maybe That's What It Takes: Alex Parks (Parks/Boulding)

Maybe not written by the contestants, but a winner's song written for the show might be a good idea.
At least it'll go some way towards stopping people calling them karaoke acts.

It's cheaper to produce a cover than it is to write a new song.

You also have the advantage of tapping into an audience that may be familiar with the original.

It tends to have the opposite effect with fans of the original though!

I agree it should be an original song, and with The X Factor they've only done that once. Doesn't have to be in the "winners song" mould either - as we saw with Popstars: The Rivals and Sound of the Underground.

I also think this years finalists showed that one song fits all isn't the right approach either. Olly made his mark in the competition as one thing, and is then expected to debut with something that so isn't him.

its NOT the christmas no1 yet! as there is still 4 days you can still buy songs( unless there have changed the rules:

1980: St Winifred's School Choir: reached on 27 Dec, reached No1 stop 23 Dec

1985: Shakin' Stevens: reached on 28 Dec, actual date reached number 24 Dec

1986: Jackie Wilson: reached on 27 Dec, actual date reached number one 23 Dec

1990: Cliff Richard: 29 Dec, actual date reached 23 Dec

which means Some else could come along and take the christmas crown.
