Interesting Rachel topped the vote in week 3 too, despite being bottom two in week 1, 2 and 4. Jedward never made the top three either.

As for Joe - well done, but awful debut single, so glad Olly isn't lumbered with it. I do fear though he'll disappear quicker than you can say Leon Jackson, but to be fair he is much more talented. Trouble is Cowell only has eyes for Leona, despite her being the most depressing singer in the world.

I have to say the songs not bad. But I think this song maybe of fitted Lucie well. But out of Joe and Olly, Joe was better. I think that who ever won out of the two would be like leon Jackson and disappear but I think joe had more of a chance of staying in the spotlight.

In my opinion there's not been a better winner/song than Will and Evergreen... just suited the whole setup. Infact I prefered the Pop Idol format and wished the whole dispute would vanish so it could come back.

I agree with the logic this would have fitted Lucie, but the momentum was never going to be in her favour this year. They wanted a pretty boy winner, and that's what they've got, despite any concern anyone's got over his longevity.

From a (sort of) pres point of view, I'm finding it fascinating how many normal members of the public are wise to the cue dots which signify an ad break these days. I was at an X Factor house party tonight and the amount of people who took those as their cue to nip to the bathroom, or get another drink, was ... well new, in any event. Ah, the curse of widescreen... Very Happy

Wonder if there'll be any complaints regarding the voting? As in, I watched the repeat of Saturday's show later that night on ITV2, complete with constant reminders to ring in and vote, both verbally and on screen. Normally not a problem for the Saturday show, but without knowing the result from earlier on and that Stacey had come third, I had no idea as to whether or not I could vote for her. No doubt I'd be charged, despite my vote not counting!

Not that there would be an ideal way of doing this without giving away the result, however, but maybe they should have announced the third place in Sunday's show?

Average audience over the entire show was 15.5m with a 53% share.

5 minute peak of 19.1 million as the result was announced. (The 17m peak reported could be a 15 minute rather than a 5 minute)

BGT final got 17.3m average with a 19.2m 5 minute peak.

Well usually there would be a message on screen, but as I've always said it's the viewers responsibility, not the broadcasters, when they phone such lines knowing they're watching a repeat.

Now, if you hadn't known third place was revealed during the show you'd have a case, but knowing it was, and knowing you were watching a repeat, why you didn't wait until the end to vote is baffling - and quite simply, stupid.

Though didn't Joe's number change after the first show - so watching the repeat and voting based on those numbers could mean you were voting for someone else?

No, it remained 103.

Considering recent scandals I don't understand why they reveal the full voting number early in the show. Wouldn't it be better just to say "To vote for Joe, add 103 to the voting number we'll give you later in the show", and then reveal the full number when lines open. OK, would be pointless if the number remains the same, but I'm sure at least one show (quite some time ago, probably in the nineties) used to do something like that, varying the phone number each week.
