I seem to be the only person not even remotely shocked by tonight. Noone likes Danyl, noone had Miss Frank as a preferred act. Go figure.
First and foremost this is an entertainment show. Simon knows it, the judges know it and the public know it. A successful winner at the end is just a bonus for Simon. John & Edward are entertaining, hence they're kept in. But I don't think they can go much further, I think they'll be out by week 6.
Cue inevitable over-reaction and unwarranted OFCOM complaints.
It was a shock yeah, but it was always going to be a shock this week. Those in most danger - Lloyd, Jamie, John and Edward and Rachel - were clearly in danger and hence got the support. I'm more surprised with Miss Frank than Danyl being in the bottom two really - Danyl found himself in that position purely down to Simon Cowell completely over hyping him from the very start, making it clear he was priming him for the US market and basically creating something he could never live up to. This will do Danyl a lot of good IMO - already on the Xtra Factor he seemed more likeable as a result, and to be fair I don't hink he's necessarily thought of himself as invincible, but tonight's result was what he needed to show the public, and more specifically Simon, that he hadn't won it yet.
Also according to Xtra Factor "crisis meetings" are now taking place - sounds like Simon's pretty much thrown his toys out of the pram.
Nice though the light show was during Westlife's performance, I can't help but wonder if the flickering lasers broke every Ofcom rule in the book on flashing images. Didn't quite know what to make of the footlighting though - rather unusual.
14.8m viewers this week apparently - breaking all previous records...

I didn't observe those lasers being particularly flashy. It needs to be somewhere between 5 to 30 Hertz (flashes per second) to trigger a response, and largely on the upper end of that scale. Did I miss a bit? I might have.
They were pretty stunning though - I've subbed in a firm to do red/green/blue laser shows so I knew they could be impressive, but this was about the best I've seen them used.
I thought Westlife were world class lastnight, really amazing.. They've always been good, but this song suggested to them by Mr Cowell is really good and suits them to a tee!

I thought the exact opposite. There's no difference to the original. The original has more feeling and is a lot better. And the original only charted 2 weeks ago at #11.
They've run out of ideas and it's time they called it a day. They looked bored. Think you were just bought by the epilepsy-inducing lazers.
