Saturday nights also look a bit boring now before 7.30pm - X Factor used to start much earlier in the evening when the results were the same night however it does suit me starting later so I cant complain too much.

I think you're misremembering slightly. It had the same lead in as last year - namely a late afternoon film and the Harry Hill double of You've Been Framed and TV Burp.

I'm so please for Cheryl who in the end sang live and performed live (not even a pre-record!)

Whitney was truly awful, miming badly and off her face. A very poor show! Will be interesting to see the papers tomorrow!

It didn't help that the straps on her top snapped half-way through!

Whitney has loads of money, millions.

And debts of millions to match.

Where is the proof of that?

Totally agree with you there. Cheryl was absolutely on top form, brilliant performance. Whitney looked like she had just got off a long haul flight and had far far too much to drink and I too cant wait to see some of the papers in the morning.

Can't say I disagree with you. Cheryl was great, it was a really good performance. The 'interview' after Whitney's performance made her look as if she'd had one too many sherrys... Laughing

Cheryl's vocal was whiney, and ropey at best - not even winners' standard.

Whitney appeared to be singing live - her "growling" wouldn't have made it past a studio edit.

And the British public proved once again that they don't deserve to live in a democracy with their appalling choice of send-home this week.

Although he was probably one of the better of a bad bunch.

I'm sorry - how can someone appear to sing live when the vocals carry on and she is trying to sort her dress out? For huge parts of the performance she was just standing there! There was even a point where she started to sing and was out of sync with the backing track!

Cheryl isn't the best singer in the world - even she admits that, but she sang live, danced and pulled off an amazing performance. I'm actually really pleased it wasn't even pre-recorded in the end.

jay, I'm watching the performance again now.

No studio would allow the vocal 'pop' (a mic without a shield) through the mix. Also - notice that there were live vocalists towards the back of the stage - explains why the track continued - and it WASN'T Whitney's voice that continued when she stopped.

And anyway, I love the song. Cheryl's was twaddle.

And also - I'd wager the majority of the people going "ah, Whitney must have been on something" have never done a live performance professionally in their lives, thus do not know what the experience of doing and finishing a live performance is.

Well Cheryl managed to speak after her live performance so I don't know why such an old pro like Whitney struggled? SHE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHEN HER ALBUM WAS COMING OUT!
