I really don't get what the massive deal is with Cheryl pre-recording her performance - it's something that has happened MANY MANY times before on the X Factor, without mention or anyone even noticing.
She IS performing her song, she IS singing live, it's just pre-recorded.

I think the main problem is that shes a judge on the programme. She is judging people on their live singing and performance. I do think it is a bit of cheek if she has to pre record considering shes been in the game for years yet the people shes mentoring are up there giving it their all for only 2 weeks exposure on the live shows.
Just think if she does do a pre record that it will be a bit rich if she then goes onto say she doesn't like X performance on the show for whatever reason.

But this is where the confusion lies - she IS singing live! It will be her voice as she stands their on stage singing - purely for live show logistical reasons she is having to pre-record her performance (probably just before the show goes live), as she wouldn't have time to prepare beforehand, or get back into her chair afterwards!
I don't mind the results on a Sunday night but much preferred it when it was on a Saturday mainly because you didn't have to wait. Its obvious why ITV are doing it tho, it gives them a Sunday night hit which can pull in huge ratings without having to do very much extra work. Extending the show on a Sunday to 75 is a bit long tho.
Saturday nights also look a bit boring now before 7.30pm - X Factor used to start much earlier in the evening when the results were the same night however it does suit me starting later so I cant complain too much.
As for who will go tonight I could see any of the following in the bottom 2 - Rachel, the girl group, the twins, Lloyd, Ricky, Lucie (because she went first). Id be very surprised if Simon loses an act.
As for who id like to go - either Ricky or the twins!
Cheryl Cole did very well, much better than I expected. But sadly some people have pre concieved ideas and are saying how bad she was (ie Digital Spy who wouldn't be happy if she sounded like Whitney, danced liked Diversity and was juggling fire at the same time)

Well done to the people who produced tonight's show... taking all of the rumors head on.

Seems even now with the Whitney performance they're going for a raw/live feel with the vocals, which they should do after all of the criticism.

After all the news on Cheryl this week, i thought her peformance was really good. Whitney also good. Also, don't know if its my ears, but before Dermot read out the results did he say housemates?
The whole concept of one of the judges getting up to sing a number was cheesy.
I feel awful for Whitney Houston - she was like a shadow of her former self on stage. The world's greatest female singer of all time reduced to having to go on The X Factor to pay the bills. You could see how desperate she was. It was heartbreaking to watch
