Anyone else think Danyl just can't sing :s He always sounds a bit out of tune - Judges seem to think he'll get on by putting his own unique spin on things but I think something Whitney said rings true and that is that he needs to focus more on just singing the melody which he just can't seem to do that well?

I honestly don't get the fuss about Danyl, if it wasn't for those backing tracks in his audition I don't he would be as good.

Olly, Joe and Jamie were fantastic tonight. All realistic contenders for the final 3.

Whitney looks amazing too.

Does anybody else just absolutely adore Stacey? I really should dislike her, but there's something so endearing and genuine about her, and she has an awesome voice to boot. Well, when she sings, anyway.

I think her, Jamie, Miss Frank and Joe were my favourites - and I actually thought John and Edward did a decent job with a crap song. The stick they get is a little bit (but not entirely) unfair, what they do is very tongue-in-cheek.

I don't *get* Lloyd, Lucy or Rikki.

No your not alone in thinking that, she may come across as very ditzy but there's something really likeable about her. I did think that she should have put more oomrph/soul for her song choice tonight though.

I think my reaction to this week can be summed up in a few points.

> I liked how they all pretended to know who Clive was
> I liked when Whitney insulted cockyface
> I love that ditzy one too, especially "I've not painted my nails"
> I actually like Cheryl, don't kow why, but I like her.

Now could someone confirm whether the twins segment was actually broadcast on national TV or did I dream it?

Completely understood what Whitney was saying. He needs to come out and prove he can hold a tune, rather than murder it half way through. Then once he's established himself a bit more he can start adding his own spin to things - but now it's just coming across as a gimmick, rather than talent.

Unsurprisingly tonight's show suffered from the Diva theme - worked much better last week actually with just one act in each category performing a song by the guest mentor, then the rest having a bit more flexibility. They should have done the same this week, and though I think again just one person in each group sang a Whitney song, I think again this week the others should have had more flexibility.

Cheryl had no chance really, though to be fair Simon pulled it off rather well. This week really should have been the girls, but I don't think any particularly put down a marker. As for the groups, Miss Frank were disapointing, whilst John and Edward - well I think they were actually better than they got credit for last week, but it's been decided they'll be the novelty act so rather than working on strengthening the vocals they're just going to get more ridiculous routines week in, week out - and hence with weak vocals and a ridiculous performance, this week just didn't work.

Rikki would be my one to go this week, with probably John and Edward also in the bottom two.

P.S. Didn't like the messed up running order tonight with the girls again performing first, Olly being the first "over" to perform again and Danyl getting a part to himself to accommodate his ego!

Quite a rubbish show tonight. There don't appear to be that many contenders compared to last year. I would say it definitely appears to be between Jamie, Stacey and Joe, with Olly and Lucie as possible dark horses. I don't think Rachel and Lucie are connecting with the public as well as they should be, and Lucie seems less impressive now than she did in the auditions/bootcamp stages.

I don't know what on earth Cheryl was thinking when she put Lloyd and Rikki through over the likes of Dwane. They are simply terrible and her little crying fit tonight was completely orchestrated for votes. Her song choices were rubbish. However I do really like her, but like a poster has already said I can't pin point a reason why, I just do.

Miss Frank were great soloists, but I think the 'main' one is ruining it for them, she isn't coming across well at all. I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the bottom 2 this week. John & Edward were hilarious. They're good for entertainment value, I think they definitely have a few weeks left in them whilst we get rid of other weaker and less entertaining acts.

Stacey was quite good, she doesn't have the best voice but there is something very captivating about her. I loved her little comment about not being able to please everyone to Simon, and the way she acted with Whitney "I turned up looking like a complete tramp" Laughing. She shows more personality in her minute with Dermot than most of the others have on the entire show.

Big band is next week again apparently, and judging by Olly and Stacey's performances (which wouldn't have seemed out of place next week), we're in for a very good week. Hopefully Louis will be back, his absence was felt a lot tonight, perhaps that could settle the whole "was it really a publicity stunt?" from series 4.

I had a suspicion that she wouldn't sing live. They'll have to burn some audience cheering on the track. I think its sad that on a show with such great talents, she can't sing live. I know she's not that good anyway and the rest of GA keep her together but come on! - she should just make a fool of herself and live with it. Who knows. she might even be great, the song isn't bad!

They wouldn't HAVE to burn in the audience cheering - they could take cheering live over the pre-rec if they needed, as that helps bride the live/pre-rec gap as well. However it's likely to be a mix of both I'd imagine - as the response to watching a replay as opposed to watching live is noticable.

Anyone noticed how technically poor the sound is on the show this year?

I was surfing between Strictly in HD (with 5.1) and X Factor in SD (with 2.0) and X Factor sounded incredibly thin and flat - particularly the applause. I initially thought it was just because Strictly was in 5.1 - but then checked - and even when switching between Strictly on BBC One (in 2.0) and X Factor on ITV1 (in 2.0) - Strictly just sounded better.

The fact that X Factor uses playback and Striclty uses a live band shouldn't make that kind of difference - even the applause on ITV1 sounded nasty.

(And how long before X Factor is on ITV HD? It looks terrible in SD when compared to other HD entertainment shows)

Last night made me realise that the show lacks something without Louis there. It would be the same if Simon was not there.

I really don't get what the massive deal is with Cheryl pre-recording her performance - it's something that has happened MANY MANY times before on the X Factor, without mention or anyone even noticing.

She IS performing her song, she IS singing live, it's just pre-recorded.
