Poor old Robbie Williams is taking a beating after his appearance at the weekend, with comments such as "wide eyed, unblinking and glistening in sweat", as if to somehow suggest he may be pepped up on goofballs.

And the gossip rag making these suggestions? The Star? Digital Spew?

Er no.

To be fair though, the BBC article attributes the quote you mention to the Daily Mail and focuses on Robbie's response to the tabloid claims rather than passing judgement itself.

X Factor producers have announced that Cheryl Cole will pre-record her performance on the show this weekend

The reason being apparently is that she can continue her duties as a judge, but surely last year she was fine when she preformed live with girls aloud.

Did anyone hear her on Radio one this morning? She couldn't keep quiet at how nervous she was! She was also very quick to defend Alexandra on miming some of her performance on Sundays show, she apparently believed she had sang the whole thing live? Though I thought it was a great performance.

I had a suspicion that she wouldn't sing live. They'll have to burn some audience cheering on the track. I think its sad that on a show with such great talents, she can't sing live. I know she's not that good anyway and the rest of GA keep her together but come on! - she should just make a fool of herself and live with it. Who knows. she might even be great, the song isn't bad!

I can sort of understand Alexandra miming in parts, as most singers who do big dance routines can't sing and dance well together. The only person I've seen who can sing live and pull of good dancing is Beyonce. For Cheryl not to sing live is quite bad considering she is a mentor on the show.

That's presuming that she did a big dance routine though... in reality the people doing the big dance routine were the 100 man behind her. She just whipped her head from side to side and was picked up at the end. Could tell she wasn't going to dance in any fancy way, from the mic she was using. Anything ambitious and she'd have had a head mic, not a hand mic.

She's being 'pre-recorded' though so does that mean that she's singing live but will be on videotape or is miming?

I'd guess in some parts she will sing live, other part mime. For her sake I'd say she should sing live, considering the great Whitney will be on and is a million times better than her. Cheryl's song is growing on me though.

Cheryl has said she is singing live, but it will be a pre recorded performance because she won't be able to get changed fast enough, but I guess that translates as she will record a few performances and they'll air the best one. She isn't the best at singing live and she'll put her credibility as a judge on the line if she risks a live performance.

Cheryl's singing live? Thanks for the warning, I'll buy some earplugs.

Her credibility is already starting to falter a bit with all of of this fuss about her performance, especially the ones about her 'banning' her family and fellow GA members. It can't have done her any good.
I wouldn't mind seeing Dannii perfom sometime.

Where has the idea that she actually has any credibility to lose in the first place come from? We all know it wasn't her vocal talents which secured her a place on the panel.

Back to the show itself and be interesting to see how they handle Louis's absense time wise more than anything tonight - I guess the other judges will have slightly longer to comment.

I'm surprised they've not bought in a guest judge to take Louis's place on the panel this weekend and of course bring a bit of publicity to the show, but with it being just the three judges although Louis is of course still their mentor I think format wise it's best that Dannii and Cheryl adopt one of the groups each so at least one judge is inclined to back them to an extent in Louis absence.
