The voiceover man is PETER DICKSON.

The audience has 200 more capacity than last year, making it 800.

I LOVE the new set - looks HUGE and has some depth to it this year. Also loving the Sunday nights result show. It means people that go out on a Saturday Night (the majority of viewers), don't have to worry about recording the results show, and then avoiding TV, Radio, Internet and newspapers the next morning until they've watched it. They can even vote on the Sunday - I didn't think I'd like it but I do.

As for the comments about Alex miming - she only part-mimed, and that was the bits when she had the most dancing to do! I think you'll find the majority of performers do this, otherwise their words would be incomprehensible (have you tried dancing and singing at the same time, and stayed in tune?)

Thought it was a brilliantly strong start for both Performance and Results shows - and did anyone else notice the mammoth first part (about 17mins or so) before the first ad-break.

I did like the results show on the Sunday, and i was expecting a break about 5mins into it, but glad they didn't opt for that. Is the studio as big as it appears on tv, just to me the cameras appear to make it look massive, especially the lights going down and past the judges.

It's a very deceptive and clever studio design - the lights going all the way around and the round stage make it look immense, when, in actual fact, it's the same sized studio they've always used (for series 3,4 &5 the set was along the back wall, now they've flipped it so it's against the side, like it was in Series 2).

Love the set though, and it must have cost an absolute fortune. I reckon it's been bought with the intention of taking it to America, as it would work very well over there.

Hour-long results show worked better than I thought it would - of course the group song was awful, but we all expected that. Think next week stretching it a further 15 minutes is a bit too much though.

Oops, the backdrop just showed up instead of the Out of Break sting.

Surprised they've never changed the official logo to blue as pretty much since series 3 the blue logo has been more prominent in the studio and as the background to auditions. Looks much better IMO too.

IIRC Simon Cowell has a contract with Fox which says he can't bring that format to the United States. I imagine this would remain in place whilst Cowell is getting a good hundred million for doing American Idol each year. I doubt Cowell would leave American Idol for his X Factor USA venture as it's flopped everywhere outside the UK.

Really? To me the previous set looked a lot more expensive.

Just because he can't appear doesn't mean the show (and the set) can't go over there...

I think the lighting and everything this year is far superior to last year, but yes, in terms of the set on it's own it probably is cheaper than the previous. When you add lighting and video-screens etc that's when the cost gets bumped up.

No, I'm pretty sure it's written in his American Idol contract that he can't sell The X Factor format to another American broadcaster.

This might not be in his current contract but I'm sure it once was. I'm sure it would still allow him to take it to Fox if they wanted it. But it would probably be a flop.

Working in TV I thought you'd know better than to listen to the over-excited tabs Wink

That's why he's sold it to the same broadcaster..

Good points. It is growing on me, I just think it needs to have more of the brand stamped on it. I'm sure they'll add more as the series goes on though.
