I find it hard to believe it was an intented "gay" jibe as such but it proves that she is no good for live TV. She is also not much of a singer. The only thing she is sucessful at is making a career out of being someones sister.

Thanks. Perhaps a little inappropriate given that he allegedly fancies both men and women. Certainly won't win any fans for Dannii.

Cheryl too came across as an idiot tonight complaining about Kandy Rain wearing revealing clothes and saying that the twins can't sing - she needs a mirror.

Simon was quite rude admitting that he didn't know the names of Miss Frank - I can imagine the girl (who's name I don't know lol) felt very small after that.

Only Louis came out looking well! He said there's a lot of artists in the charts that can't sing - wonder who he was referring to there? Very Happy

I think Dannii just over-estimated Danyl's confidence, to be honest.

She's a typical fag hag type who hangs around with the more confident gays (purely for a personal ego boost) and she obviously expected shy Danyl to take it in the same lighthearted way that her little pet gay friends would.

She's just a bit thick really. That's all there is to it.

There was no need to bring that up I agree, but up until then as usual she had been spot on with most of her comments, and usually gives the acts something to work with. In fact the judges were all pretty much spot on tonight, even Louis - though his head wobbling still annoys.

Tomorrows result show format will be interesting, but from what we know it seems to be a carbon copy of American Idol with two guest acts (one a previous contestant) and a group performance along with the results and performances in the final showdown.

Still find it really odd though that they've pulled all the Sunday repeats both from ITV1 and ITV2. Up until now they've aired each week, but for the live shows there seems to be a repeat on ITV2 late on Saturday night, then Monday morning and Friday night. ITV2's Sunday early-evening repeat, which often pulled in around 1m viewers, has disappeared along with the afternoon ITV1 repeat. I think we all assumed part of the reason for moving the results to Sunday was to allow viewers watching the repeats to be able to vote too.

I think Dannii's comment was blown out of proportion, she seemed to intend it to be quite an off the cuff comment, but Simon helped to make it something bigger.
Looking back, maybe an error to say it considering 1 mistake these days gets the public wanting you out, but I'm sure it'll all be forgotten. Even Cheryl had to be careful what she said when commenting on Kandy Rain.

The new set is awesome, looking at the opening shot I was questioning whether it was still at Fountain. Its surprising how utilising the ceiling height can really make such a difference, especially with the lighting tubes on there too.

Good show though, interested to see the change in the way the results shows will work.

Ok, my two centsworth:

a) To be fair it did just look like one of those horrible moments where you think you've said something hilarious, look round and realise everyone is staring at you open-mouthed in horror. We've all been there. I don't think it was malicious.

b) Having seen on some of these threads a call to boycott her acts, I think that's insane. You're not punishing Dannii there - she gets paid no matter what, you're punishing some very good singers in what I see as the second strongest category. Would you rather have John and Edward or Kandy Rain win because you have a problem with a judge?

c) There is a debate to be had about people having to sing song lyrics to fit social conventions. Remember when Will Young initially had to sing about girls when he first won Pop Idol? There's a bigger issue here that won't be discussed if we all end up participating in a mad witchhunt.

d) Dannii has said she is happy to apologise on camera on her Twitter, and has sent a lot of apologies to somewhat annoyed fans. I welcome that.

On the show itself, somewhat overshadowed... the new set looks great, although I liked Dermot's dig about it. John and Edward and Kandy Rain were the weakest in my opinion, Danyl obviously being the show-stealer. I'm backing Lucie but don't think she's got a chance. Judging was very odd and contrived at times, but that's why we love it I suppose. Was it just me btw or did the backing track often easily drown out the singer?

Of course the debate now is will Louis make tonights' results show following the death of Stephen Gately?

Suggestion on R2 news at 11am was not. He's reportedly going with the four other Boyzone members to Majorca.

If Louis is absent (and I don't think anyone expects him to put The X Factor first) it should be pretty straight forward to sort ouf the final showdown. Naturally if Louis has one act in the bottom two (and I think he will), his vote by default should be to save his act, whilst if he has two acts, if they can arrange an order of preference his vote can be cast too. If he has no acts the vote should just go ahead with the three remaining judges.

Watching again this morning it clearly was nothing more than an error of judgement - and the press, not Danyl, were the target of Dannii's comment, but of course the press won't be able to get their heads around that - after all, what could possibly be wrong with forcing people to out themselves, as the NoTW proudly admit they exclusively did with Danyl in today's edition?

Also Danyl didn't react to that comment at all - he was already a mess before the judges started commenting, and didn't really lose control until Simon heaped praise upon him. From comments I've seen elsewhere too, Dannii's comment seems to have come from a joke Danyl himself instigated in rehearsals - hence why Simon, the audience and the viewers just didn't get it.

Anyway, prediction for tonight would be Kandy Rain and Rikki in the bottom two, with Kandy Rain to go - though it might go to deadlock if Kandy Rain get Simons vote.

Sky News is flashing up Walsh will not be on tonights show.

Sky News reporter advises the show won't start with the usual fanfare of the judges walking through the stage to their chairs with the big introduction. Instead the judges will be already seated and Simon will say a few words.
