Very BGT I think! =)

There are some red light strips on the very right hand corner, I presume that's a walkway for the contestants or maybe Dermot's spot.

I'm also not sure I like it, it seems similar to the BGT set, but given the X Factor treatment. I think it's a lot bigger than the last stage though - that one did look nice but it was far too narrow. I remember that Britney's 'Womanizer' performance had to have less props because the stage was too narrow, and then I saw her performance on Star Academy (on TF1 in France) and they have a stage which is much bigger.

So, I think the new stage will be easier for people to perform on. It's a simple shape and not narrow at all. I think it will look fantastic on screen too.

I quite like it but my only criticism is that it bears a lot of resemblance to the old set (block lighting around screens). But the stage is much better and bigger, definitely more scope for the performances. I also like how the judges desk is now part of the set rather than just being part of the audience like it has been from series 1-5.

On one hand the stage has more depth than before, but the steps and light strips make everything look a bit fussy and over-complicated.

Where are they going to put the Christmas trees? There doesn't seem to be enough room for them on the stage.

What do you mean 'fussy and over-complicated'?

I'd hasten a guess, it's the same people who constructed both. Razz

There's a lot of detail to take in.

However, I like the fact the new set won't rely as heavily on Windows Media Player visualizations (I know the videos weren't really WMP, but the quality was normally just as naff) in the background. There's more lighting and fewer video walls this time. Can't wait to see the real thing on screen tomorrow.

Do we know if it's coming from the same sized studio as last year? Would seem a little odd going from an audience of 5000 in 'boot camp' to about 500 max?

Yes, X Factor is still coming from Fountain. From the picture above looks like they have gone back to using the studio length-ways as it was used in Series 1 & 2. Britain's Got Talent, which is broadcast from the same studio, have seating for between 650 - 700 so I'm imagining X Factor will be a similar number.
