Why did Simon invite them back when Rebecca said she was going on holiday- lets hope it will be a very very long one and she should take Hewitt with her. Cool

Lovely coloured bars there.

Yep, looked like one of the cameras (the one with the guy moving side to side at the front of the stage) was knocked out of action, cocking up the sequence of camera shots for the rest of the song and then possibly the slight ad-libbing from Kate before they were able to get a shot of the judges for the opinions?

Well, she does work as a tv presenter nowadays, only not on this side of the channel. Laughing
Maybe she's forgotten the little fact that she's only known here in Britain because of that affair (wether it happened or not), and that therefore her participation in a programme like this is a bit inappropiate

Anyone seen the reports that charities are expressing concern that a relatively small amount of the phone voting revenue is going to charity... There are reports that some of the phone revenue is going back to the production - effectively subsidising it. (In other words a kind of pay-TV!)

It's explained in the small print shown on screen, 10p goes to charities, the remainder goes to the phone company, Cowell and Syco, TalkbackThames, ITV, Chris Moyles, etc etc

Yep - I don't think anyone is claiming that there is subterfuge - just that it is relatively unusual for phone voting that has a charitable aspect to not be "fully charitable".

Most phone voting with a charitable link usually only remove the costs of providing the actual phone voting facilities from the revenue received from the phone voting, and give the rest to charity.

The X Factor, are, instead giving a fixed amount - but not the full income - and are using some of the income back to the production. Whether this makes a better programme, or returns more money to shareholders is an interesting question...
