X Factor

As previously stated, BGT has been renewed till 2024 while The X Factor has only been given one more year.

Thanks - somehow missed that earlier.

A family member of mine has auditioned via WhatsApp and was contacted on Friday regarding another audition. He said that one of the producers told him that the TV auditions for the 2020 series will be like the ones in Simons office during The Band.

Perhaps we will be seeing series 2 of The Masked Singer sooner rather than later.

Just hope they don't rush another series of BGT Champions on to screen. Not sure too they'll risk The Masked Singer against Strictly either.

There’s been no indication that BGT Champions is returning. I enjoyed it but the ratings weren’t anything to write home about (looked like a behemoth next to Celebrity X Factor though!) and I’m pretty sure it only happened last year as ITV’s Syco/Thames contract dictated a certain number of hours. As in, they’d signed for the c40 hours of content a normal XF would cover. It doesn’t sound like they’ve made the same kind of commitment in this new deal.

Plus the second series of AGT Champions is rating quite a bit lower than the first. I think Champions could happen again but only once every few years.

As for The Masked Singer, I think they’ll want to protect that and keep it in Q1 rather than throwing it into the much tougher Autumn environment.

Not sure what they’ll go with, they’ll need to get something sorted for Saturdays soon though. I guess they’ll use Millionaire on Sundays again, it did OK last year.

Maybe another series of The Voice like they do in the US?

They could push The Voice Kids to the autumn with Euro 2020 dominating schedules in June. I think in 2018 they aired it over a week due to the World Cup.

The Voice is not doing very well either this year. Not as bad as XF but not great either. Wouldn’t put in the autumn as that will kill it off even quicker.



That’s what they will probably end up doing, I expect catchphrase will be pushed to the same time as well.

If I was ITV ....

I’d make the Masked Singer series 2 air in the autumn, make it live with a public vote - much more exciting.

You absolutely read my mind, I was just about the post the same. I think the popularity of this series may make them think of doing it live.
