What a total mess the show has become. Why cant they ever just leave it alone? Why did we need a golden buzzer. Then Simon not deciding, then the whole chair fiasco tonight. What was the hideous marquee all about, what did that add?
I thought they might of had potential as the very first episode was alright. But another 4 or so weeks of this. It's actually embarrassing, I would be embarrassed showing that if I was ITV.
It's basically that cabaret bar on benidorm now. If this show was only on every 2 years, had a simple, modern, streamlined production, it would have a chance but please ITV, put this show out of its misery.
Typical X Factor then. The show literally falling apart on screen. Rules being made up as they go along, judges refusing to judge, manipulations like 'safe seats' saving weak acts.
Have they learned nothing down the years that viewers literally hate all of that?
Even Dermot seemed annoyed by Simon's refusal to vote this week.
What is notable is that despite the show rating less than previously, Asda still chose the show the launch their big Christmas ad campaign, when they could have chosen any other slot on ITV or Channel 4 to do so. So maybe it still ticks the right boxes for advertisers.
Aren't people analysing the show too much this year? Overall, it is still a slick, well produced show. Yes, there is the odd mistake like Nicole walking in front of the camera like last week, then not sitting in the seats like they should be. But manipulation of the rules, acts forgetting the words and Louis Walsh's random comments make you wonder what you are going to see next. Rather than sing, judge, vote, weakest act goes home - each week. This is a celebrity series so it is more of a tongue in cheek series and should be taken more for its entertainment value rather than overly getting hung up over the idiosyncrasies of the format.
I feel last night the production of the show was superior to last week, the darker blue lighting of the audience behind the judges helped to maintain the old X Factor tense feel, Simon looked smarter than last week and the distribution of audience in the venue helped. Also, announcing who was safe rather than who was in the bottom 3 at the end, maintained the climax to the show.
I definitely much preferred it last night to last week. Pacing was perfect, the marque was odd although it added at bit of atmosphere that was lacking last time. It's unfortunate they didn't think of putting a friends and family area somewhere in the audience as that could have brought that atmosphere into the studio. Shame about Simon's rule breaking at the end. He doesn't seem to realise how much making up the rules on the fly puts people off.

No, have you seen the viewing figures? People are tired of this kind of manipulation on these shows and are voting with their remotes.
It doesn't make it surprising anymore it's entirely predictable.

Or maybe they're surprised at the low ratings? No way would they have expected The Chase to be a better choice.

It isn't any more though - not only do they tinker with it week to week they were changing the format live on the show last night. A slick production would have been going back to basics, only taking 9 acts through to the live shows and giving it all a bit of time to breathe.

It isn't being sold as tongue in cheek though - it's a deeply serious chance to win a record deal according to Simon and we can all see through that.
