Anyone know how the transmission for The X Factor on TV3 in Ireland works? During the pre-recorded episodes do TV3 get the original tapes from X Factor as ITV do, or do they latch onto some sort of live feed from ITV? Likewise during the live shows do TV3 have a feed straight from Fountain Studios to them, or do they again have a feed from ITV to TV3?

Apologies for the dullness of this query..

TV3's programming deal is with ITV rather than Syco/FremantleMedia and it covers a lot of programmes from different production companies so I would assume they get a clean feed of programmes from ITV.

Many thanks Smile

Going off on a bit of tangent now, but I've watched Corrie on TV3 and I'm pretty sure they were ahead of the ITV network, of course things would be different for live programmes. As an aside RTE also seems to be ahead of the BBC for EastEnders until the short commercial break that puts them behind.

Tapes are provided wherever possible, if not played down the line or digitally transferred for a late edit.

I think the agreement is that it UK get first airing, but given how people outside of ROI can't really get TV3 and as per the agreement UTV aren't the broadcaster for those shows, they could get away with a few minutes early.

For live shows - they take the same feed from the production gallery ITV would have so they hear talkback and know about advert breaks, duration changes and overruns (that x-factor feed that someone posted a while back is exactly what they'd have).

Many thanks for the info.

Had a quick search but I can't find this - do you still have the link perchance?

Just over a week to go until the live shows start, and this is when any new sets of titles or graphics have come in on previous series. I haven't seen anything to suggest new titles, however they haven't played them in full since the first week of auditions, which may indicate a change is coming. The 'coming up' sequences used this year so far have been different - very nicely done, and no sign yet of the big shouty man (does he usually just do the live shows? I'm sure he's on earlier usually).

On the whole, this series has had a very different feel so far. A bit more serious in tone, slightly less OTT.

I'd agree with that - a return to form after the in your face style of the last couple years IMO. Personally I'd have gotten rid of the live auditions altogether, but there's always next series Wink

The X Factor USA is also using the short titles for the auditions and it's the same one as last year. I don't think a change is coming but instead using shorter titles instead of the normal longer opening.

So Big Shouty Man is back for judges houses and it just felt so out of place. I do think they should retain Peter Dickson but in more of an annoucer role, just for the judges and contestants intros on the live shows, and leave the "Previously/Coming Up" stuff to Dermot. Half of JLS doing the competition seemed to jar too - a complete contrast to the over the top Dickson intro.

One thing to note this series - the lack of a 'novelty' love or hate character a la Wagner, Rylan, etc.

This is a good thing in my opinion and I agree with the comments that this year seems much more serious. I think it's a change for the good.

Shelly will clearly take that role whether she likes it or not.

True, but I don't think she'll be around for long!
