If true, British X Factor is pretty ruined. We're left with....Louis Walsh. I'm not sure they're going to be able to find judges that can make the show watchable, the suggestion of Gary Barlow makes me want to retch!

Following months and months of speculation, our Contributing Editor Dannii Minogue has confirmed that she will NOT be returning to our screens as an X Factor judge later this year:

"I am so disappointed that I can't be a part of The X Factor this year. I'm going to miss the show and the amazing team who work so incredibly hard on it."

Danni began filming the fifth series of Australia's Got Talent in January and returns to her homeland in a couple of weeks to continue with the semi and grand finals.

"During discussions for me to return [to The X Factor] it became clear that unfortunately, this year, the X Factor audition dates in the UK clash with the live shows of Australia's Got Talent during June and July. For this reason I am unable to return. I want to wish the new judges every success for this year's show, and can't wait to see who the British public choose as their next big star. Thanks to everyone who has shown me so much love and support, and brought me so much joy during my four incredible years working on the show."

What I don't get is really you'd think that The UK X Factor would work round Danni's AGT dates. I think there've clashed most years - hence some Guest judges last year. Plus AGT is surely a part Syco production, so even more likely that there'd be able to move the dates around a little. Seems like they wanted red to me? This years show was already looking weaker this year, what with Simon and Cheryl near gone, now 3 judges down Confused

Rumours on Twitter is that Tulisa from N Dubz is replacing Dannii Shocked Hope it isn't true.

God - that's the show screwed then. They really should have waited on her before signing up Louis - he's now effectively head judge, despite being the weakest of the four. Might pave the way for Sharon Osbourne to return though.

Might as well cancel the show now, frankly.

Well.... Not going to be a very strong judging panel this year. Louis, Gary and N-Dubz girl (+ Sharon?).

I can see Sharon Osbourne returning, it would make good PR but she'd probably be rebranded as "harsher and tougher than before" etc.

I think Simon Cowell needs to sort some priorities out, or maybe....just maybe... with BGT reportedly flagging badly this series, is the "talent" phenomenon finally fading out in this country?

I'm afraid Cowell's only priority is money. You're right it does seem that it could be the end of X Factor / BGT in this country, he probably sensed this last year anyway and that's why he's jetted off more or less full time now to America.

Leaving ITV in a dangerous limbo that's for sure. That's the problem with these shows, Cowell creates them and they often have to rely solely on him.

XFUSA is an exercise in futility. It won't be nearly as popular as Simon Cowell thinks it's going to be.

Britain's Got Talent is going fine this year - not seen it yet but apparently tonight's show was very strong and most the criticism of this series has been about the talent rather than the judges. And certainly when it comes to the live shows Cowell returning is actually of little appeal to me - I don't think it's necessary myself.

The X Factor of course is a different matter and so much more reliant on Cowell and indeed the judges in general, and with Louis being by far the weakest of the panel last year (a panel which included Cheryl Cole!) him being the only returning judge is a big problem. Sharon returning I think is the only way they can keep Louis and create a bit of buzz.
