I think the show has a Eurovision feel to it.

Funny you should mention Eurovision. The set designer this year was the same as X Factor and it showed. It was a great set and much better than XF tonight.

I thought this as well - and thought, well if ITV ever take Eurovision broadcasting rights from the BBC then they could handle it ok.

And Florian Wieder? Design legend.

Yep!

I prefer the Fountain Studios as I feel the stage is dwarfed by everything else, from the shots the camera cranes were giving, you could barely see the acts, and the camera shtos from the back were awful, only shwos the audience, not the performance, however, I did REALLY!! like the camera at the top middle that's runs through the whole set, that was amazingly epic.

Agreed, brilliant shot.

Absolutely.
Here are some of the best ones IMO:

Infact, a lot of the camera shots were really good. Good to see the return of the steadicam!

Yh, I really do like the JLS ones Smile

Doesn't beat Eurovision and I'm sure its not trying to, but nonetheless a very impressive set-up.

I'm very fond of the cable camera rig running down the centre of the arena, and some great shots from the Technocrane too.

It seemed they picked a few bits up from Series 1&2: The Steadicam, the large central 'X', also used the old upbeat tension bed at one point.

As far as the desk mics for the judges, I'm sure they were there for good reason due to the size of the arena and so on, but created some nasty popping.

Good Show all round.

Does anyone know the name of the camera running through the centre or have any pictures? Smile

Not sure if it's the same brand used on the X Factor, but Spidercam provide those systems for Eurovision

[EDIT]: Fair enough, probably isn't this. My bad.

Im 99% sure its not the spidercam as it runs a bit too linear and smooth to be the cam, plus in some shots you can see a long track going thru the ceiling of the arena

Very much like this used in Eurovision 2010:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfR8KVqUuQE (eagle eyed spotters can see a camera mounted on some rig lowered about halfway down towards the audience at the start, and about 30 secs in it cuts to a movement very much like the one used in this X Factor Final
Another similar shot from ESC 2010: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcH3hdz8Eks&t=7m14s

Infact, I think theyre called 2D cameras..?

Good call ITV Smile

And also, I doubt it'd be this as there would be no need for the camera cranes then
