Surely it's both shows - Sunday is the actual final. Hopefully with it back to three finalists they'll return to the format of a couple of years which although on the surface had a lot of "filler", it was quality filler with multiple guests (and multiple guests have been annouced for this week). Last year it was a rather damp squib with just one or two guests in the Sunday show IIRC.
There seems to be very little speculation this year on the duets front too - I wonder if they've taken the lazy option and getting the relevent judges to do it instead.
Last I heard, Adele was meant to do one, but pulled out.
I believe she's still under strict instructions to rest her voice after undergoing surgery.
According to the TV guide one will be voted off on Saturday leaving just two contestants for the Sunday show. I'm hoping that with so much time to fill we're not going to be subjected to the 'worst contestants' 'singing'.
Is this Christmas chart to be announced on 18th dec, rather than on Christmas day?
The reason I ask is obviously The X Factor ends this weekend, but in comparison when Christmas Day was last on a Sunday in 2005, the show ended on 17th December, with Shane Ward becoming Christmas Number 1.
Yeah but that was when the show was only on Saturdays, so there was time for Shayne to get to number one. With the final on a Sunday, they want to give the winner the best chance.

The winner's single "will chart for the first time in the week before Christmas, raising the possibility of a battle [for Christmas number one] the following week."
I guess the Christmas number 1 itself isn't as big a deal for The X Factor anymore - it's not like it has anything to prove after god knows how many in the past, plus it avoids the big clashes in Christmas week and the prospect of a Rage Against The Machine type of thing happening again. The chart the week before Christmas is normally a bit dead so it's a dead cert for number 1 there, and a distinct possibility the week after too with the unusual buying habits at Christmas.
Plus, probably more importantly, it allows ITV to bring the competition to a climax when the adverts are probably worth more, with more of December left for shopping.
I guess as is tradition for Sunday Christmasses the number 1 will be revealed on Top of the Pops first rather than the Radio 1 countdown? This is the first time since the show became an annual event that it's happened, although I imagine they will still just edit x different versions of the show with the ending changed.

Do they actually do a chart countdown on the TOTP Christmas Specials?

It used to be a best of the year programme that ended with the Christmas chart, however I believe that last year (possibly the year before) they aired two specials, one at Christmas, then a best of the year on new years day.
Looks quite nice from what you can see, will be interesting to see how it looks on screen tomorrow. We didn't get a set change this year, but this is as close as it gets.
