Edith Bowman has tweeted earlier that Steve Jones has landed XF USA host job

God that's two accents they won't understand then.

If thats the case, I wonder if Dermot would walk out of our version at the eleventh hour, or have this as his last series? He has said in the past that he wants the American job and has been rumoured to have said he'll quit if he doesn't get the job because he's gone as far as he can with X Factor. That would throw an uncertain series into even more chaos, and there would be no obvious replacements not just at ITV, but TV as a whole.

Nicole Scherzinger is apparently hosting, which sadly rules her out of judging our programme, but with Simon wanting the two shows the same, it does make me wonder if they'll shoehorn a female presenter onto our series?

Alesha Dixon is supposedly 'on the verge' of being signed up by Cowell.

Jo Whiley would undo her entire career if she joined X Factor. I think she'd add credibility to the programme but ultimately people would turn against her because of her view of 'real' music.

Exactly. She's a muso and The X Factor is everything that muso's despise! Her career was built around 'indie' music, not the bland singers that XF churns out every year.

If any DJ is to get the job, I'd really like it to be Chris Moyles, even if I'm not his biggest fan. Chris has said he'll do it and also did the celebrity version. But most importantly, on X Factor you can't be vapid of personality or afraid to voice your opinion. Gary Barlow and Michael Buble are the two most rumoured names to take over from Simon, and they definitely don't have what it takes to become an X Factor judge.

Chris Moyles is actually a good idea for a judge. You know he'd tell it straight and would actually add a bit of humour into the programme (in the same way that Michael Mcintyre has added that to the panel in BGT). He doesn't have a reputation for credible music to defend as he doesn't have one!

She moved from BBC Radio 1 to BBC Radio 2, that hasn't exactly helped her reputation.

In what way?

Lauren Laverne would be a great choice too, not so sure that she'd get picked after 10 O' Clock Live though.

Are you mad? She'd never be allowed back in the 6Music building again!

Anyone who has an iota of credibility in the music world would touch a show like The X Factor with a bargepole. The likes of Whiley and Laverne would be forever branded as 'sellouts'. I think Dermot o'Leary has just about got away with it... but he was never really that much of a 'muso'

Well to be the champion of upcoming indie music to (from what I've heard of her R2 show) a bit blah.

Fair enough, but would she really want to stick with a radio station (no matter how good it is) which nearly was cut a few months ago in favour of a huge TV job?

I'm sure she wouldn't want to waste all those years building up a reputation and career (her second career of course) by selling out to Simon Cowell.

The fact that 6Music was almost closed has nothing to do with it, nor does the money, people do choose jobs for reasons other than money. People like her and Jo Whiley... and all the specialist DJs do what they do because they are passionate about the music. Do you really think that Lauren Laverne would be happy sitting through yet another teenager screeching out yet another Mariah Carey cover?

The Mirror article says Gary Barlow is Simon Cowell's replacement. What are they thinking. I can already hear Alesha Dixon cackling away while Dannii looks at her out the corner of her eye thinking 'wtf..?' and now we've got barely lucid Gary Barlow bovinely staring into space like a spare part while Louis Walsh patiently thinks of different ways to kill Simon Cowell for leaving him behind to carry the show all by himself.

And Steve Jones for XFUSA host... Rolling Eyes that would be funny if it wasn't true.

The way that Christine Bleakley is going, I wouldn't be surprised if she was up to host the XFUK alongside Dermot!

Gary Barlow is an utterly useless replacement, if it's true. He's so boring.

If Gary and Alesha will be the replacements they should have just gone with the idea to have the live shows coming from America. Gary on the panel alongside Dannii will just be boring, I do like Dannii and she is good value to the programme but she is more restrained and gets less involved with the pantomime than the rest. Alesha will do OK but shes not new to the judging game and is a bit wishy washy. They need a bigger name who's more likely to be a loose cannon, and I know it would just be like replacing Cheryl with a poor copy but Sarah from Girls Aloud would make a good judge.

As for Christine, she'd be most likely to join alongside Dermot if they replicate the presenting line up over here, although I'd rather they chose Holly Willoughby or even Davina McCall, but Davina probably doesn't have the right image that they're aiming for and Holly quit Xtra Factor to reduce her work load. Speaking of which, has the new Xtra Factor host been confirmed yet? I'm hoping its not Kimberley Walsh as rumoured, shes too monotone.

The good thing about loads of Brits on the USA version is that when it airs on ITV2, it will almost certainly get good ratings because it will be less alien than other shows. If it airs in sync as American Idol currently does and airs mid-week, it will definitely feed off ours too and it could be one of ITV2s most watched shows ever. It will probably match Xtra Factor ratings of around 1.5m. Has it been confirmed when it is airing yet? It would be a shame if ITV2 ditched American Idol and put X Factor there with a 3 month delay, and from an advertising perspective it would be a big loss.
