THE WINNER IS.......... Is there a X factor 2012? (April 2011)

That's not really surprising or unusual, and a bit of a non story really, the difference was only a hundred thousand.

There was no way that US X Factor was going to get anywhere near the original's audience, it's only the hard-core fans who are really interested.

It's a good figure for both channels especially well deserved for Sky1 as it's a great programme.... I wonder how much it would get on a free-to-air channel?

As Ricky said (in a conversation with Steven and Karl), "people still write in and ask if Karl is really played by an actor and we made this character up".

Steven replied, "If we had written [such a brilliant character as] Karl, do they honestly think we'd have sold the show to Sky?"

The X Factor is presumably ITV's most popular show on Saturday night, so why don't they use the ECP or have a voiceover on the credits? I'm looking at this from ITV's point of view, not mine. Wouldn't it make sense to boost ITV's other services online or on ITV2 by promoting them during the credits? Seems strange they wouldn't make use of that opportunity.

From my point of view though, obviously, it's a great thing because I can enjoy the credits and the fabulous theme music. So even after all I've said, if anyone from ITV is reading this... please keep the no-ECP-on-X-Factor-thing up! Smile

I'm guessing you're watching on HD? Credit squeezes aren't on ITV1HD hence if there's a full ECP you don't see it, you'll get straight voiceovers though.

SMS (text) voting is back by the looks of this test page for the official website

Good - it was a complete over reaction in the first place to axe it and completely wrong for the TV companies to take any blame for mobile companies not delivering texts in time. All they needed was a simple disclaimer that any votes "made or received" after the lines close wouldn't be counted - and now with a 24 hour voting window there is no reason not to have it, closing the text vote probably at the beginning of the results show (as used to happen, with phone voting remaining open slightly longer).

Well it says there that they'll be closing the text voting at noon the next day. You'd hope all texts would have got through by the results show 8 hours later!

I think they should do the American Idol SMS voting system when it is free on a certain network, hence a product placement deal for example - 'To vote for Janet text VOTE JANET to 61234 free from your O2 mobile' or something similar to that. Also, the phone votes are free on American Idol too from a landline. Plus online voting is free too in the US.

Here is an example of a Text Vote aston from American Idol with the AT&T product placement deal used.

I'm not sure Talk Talk would be too happy with a rival phone company having product placement. Talk Talk Mobile maybe!. Laughing I'm almost sure that's the reason the final's at Wembley rather than the 02 Arena.

Speaking of which, obvioulsy it's only the first year it's been allowed , but considering it's such a big show, I was suprised that this years show hasn't featured any product placement i.e like Pepsi drink cups on the US show. Pepsi/Coca Cola most likely wouldn't be allowed over here becuase of the restrictions on sugary/fatty foods, but you'd think one of the bottled water companies or similar would. Even more suprising considering the tie in's there've announced with M&S etc.
