Of course, there is the possibility that her visa application was rejected given her ABH conviction.

Ooooh now I like that, it's is quite a possibility I'd have thought knowing how arsey US Immigration can be.

Oddly enough, Googling 'US work visa convictions' brings up this as the second result

I refer to my earlier point... any publicity is good publicity.

Well yes... but then it's all over the papers and telly here but I bet it's not getting much coverage on the side of The Atlantic where the publicity is really needed

Her conviction will have had no bearing. It has probably been removed from her criminal record because 7 years have passed and it was a minor offence.

Russell Brand got in.

I find it funny how a Daily Mail article states she has fled "the U.S. and is back in the UK", well if she wanted to hide for a bit and avoid attention she'd be better off staying over there.

I think if she doesn't return to the UK version she'll just end up disappearing, or end up on the BBC version of The Voice though one may think that's the same as disappearing.

Red Breaking News banner on DS too

N-Dubz star Tulisa Contostavlos confirmed as X Factor judge. More to follow. - it's not good. What a rubbish choice. I though it was just one of them rumoured names. Will hope it changes before the first recorded audition on Wednesday.

That'll be a nice one for Peter Dickson to get his tongue around then.

48 hours to save X Factor

The Sun posted:

X FACTOR bosses fear they have just 48 hours to save the crisis-hit show - after Cheryl Cole refused to return as a judge.

Show mogul Simon Cowell believes the new judging panel could prove a flop without her - devastating ratings.

Shell-shocked Cheryl was last night determined to take a break from showbiz as she struggled to escape her X Factor nightmare.

The popular Geordie beauty, 27, is refusing to change her mind about not returning as a judge on the UK version.

Bosses fear a ratings meltdown unless the show's crisis is resolved before auditions start on Wednesday - just 48 hours away.

ITV boss Peter Fincham flew in from a working trip to LA last night to sort out the mess personally.

But Cheryl is devastated after being sacked from Simon Cowell's new US version last week.

A source close to her said last night: "She just isn't in the right state of mind at the moment to go headfirst into a new show.

"She's all over the place - emotionally she's very fragile.

"Starting filming on Wednesday would be far too soon."

An ITV insider suggested Cheryl might go back if the money was right and that her management team - led by Black Eyed Peas star Will.I.Am - were demanding £2.5million for her.

But the insider said ITV were not prepared to pay that much.

They felt they were being "held to ransom" by someone who had given them a slap in the face by quitting for the US. The source added: "It was getting ridiculous. We're not made of money."

Yes, replace a show worth around £100 million a year to ITV with a show that was worth about £10 million in its heyday.

With the state of the XFactor line up at the moment the show won't be worth that much this time next year!

Of course it will. You could literally have a bunch of Muppets on the judging panel. As long as the judges can act and go along with the storylines, and those storylines are strong enough the show will be a success.

The X Factor is mainly about the theatrics/sob storys and newspaper column inches.
