Noone takes X Factor hype at face value, theres always some hidden motive to generate publicity and nothing is ever as it seems. Part of the appeal of X Factor
is
all of the ridiculous publicity that runs all year round and the conspiracies that come with it. If people don't like it then don't read the tabloids or watch magazine based programmes on ITV whilst its on and you can avoid it very well. I'll never understand people who watch or read things, not just about X Factor but across the board, just to rubbish it.
This whole situation has had good publicity because X Factor UK has appeared to fall apart whilst X Factor USA gets an underwhelming line up. So they change the USA programme and low and behold, both programmes are saved (although we haven't got to that bit of the story yet).

Coronation Street is scripted, but it doesn't mean people aren't interested in or surprised by it when something big happens. We all know that X Factor is overhyped and pretty much scripted, but it doesn't stop some of us, myself included, from bloody loving it.
There. I've said it.

Of course a lot of what goes on on a programme like the X Factor is purely for publicity. It's Cowells job to get it on the front page of the papers every Monday morning, and Tuesday and Wednesday if he can!
However that doesn't mean that everything that happens is planned publicity. I personally always sway towards the cock-up rather than the conspiracy theory. What makes me think that in this case is would Cheryl Cole really agree to be humiliated just for the common good of Cowell's empire?
Of course it might have been that she was the only one who didn't know about the plan!

It would explain that first promo where she had very little intro about her

It was probably an option rather than a plan and Cheryl will have been fully aware, considering reports are saying her contract has been completely withdrawn so she isn't even getting paid off. American TV is notorious for axing people on a whim and FOX wouldn't risk the legal repercussions of axing someone with a $2m contract if clauses weren't in place.
Its probably why there have been numerous delays in announcing the UK line up, just in case. Kelly and Alesha both hinted at being approached, but Tulisa said she wasn't doing it so was probably just a red herring. They could have finalised the panel upon Dannii withdrawing and started filming last week, but chosen not to and postponed the auditions to next Wednesday, perhaps because Cheryl was filming in the US. If true it suggests the execs have known for a while stateside, and they've played a blinder at hiding it from the press.

I'm inclined to believe the sacking was unplanned. The positive spin is already well underway, with both BBC News and ITV News sympathetically using the phrase "Cheryl's American dream" on the evening bulletin, and BBC News even had voxpops of people saying "It's America's loss! We'll have her back!" Of course what actually happened was that Cheryl had ideas well above her station and it spectacularly backfired. Luckily for her, most people see Cheryl as little more than a soap character, hence the indifference. Personally, I would think she's got some cheek thinking she can come crawling back the UK when it all goes wrong - if I took the show seriously.

Of course, there is the possibility that her visa application was rejected given her ABH conviction.

She'll be the only who who didn't.
Looking at tomorrow's headlines on the BBC News Channel - all the papers (well, the Sun at least
) saying 'I've been snubbed by Cowell' and 'I never saw it coming' ..
She'll be the only who who didn't.
