Cat Deely - has not charmed the public by turning her back on British television. The silly wannbe had no hope in America to start with, and I hope she comes back to the UK with her tail between her legs and never gets hired for a presneting job again.
Except that a large chunk of the British public will have no idea Cat is presenting in the US - only those who watched So You Think You Can Dance will.
The American Idol stuff she is currently presenting is a different kettle of fish, as she's in the US presenting the UK-versioned ITV show - not the US version... This is just like any other British presenter going abroad to present an ITV show - just like Love Island really...
She was pretty well rated by the US on So You Think You Can Dance - so I don't think she's "failed" at all.
Vernon Kay - this has not been mentioned, but if someboy does mention him as a contender I may become part of a group suicide.
I mentioned it soon after the news was announced. When Kate leaving the X Factor was rumoured during the last run, his name was widely tipped. He's certainly 10 times warmer and 100 times more natural on-screen than Ms Thornton. I know some people don't like his "professional northerner" style - but I know many do. He certainly "gets" live TV presentation hugely more than Kate - who seemed glued to autocue and her camera, with awful on-screen body language.
Nobody - In my opinion, nobody can really replace Kate without the format of the show becoming totally unrecognisable. Was she sacked or did she leave? Whhy did she leave or why was she sacked?
I think that replacing Kate is a fantastic idea. She is far from universally popular - I know quite a few people who "put up with her" to watch the X Factor, rather than enjoying her presentation. I know some people liked her - but I know many couldn't stand her.
IMHO her presentation and general TV skills were very lacking. She seldom looked comfortable or natural, and her voice really grated.
