But should Leon have won?

Yes, he received the most votes on the night.
Meanwhile, Ofcom have started to receive complaints from viewers who claim they were unable to vote for LEON. Laughing

Personally I think the real voting scandal is with Strictly Come Dancing.

Firstly, they have this ludicrous voting system which is never ever explained on the programme or on the website. All they ever say it the judges and viewers votes are combined - but there are several ways of doing that, most of which could come up with different results.

My understanding is it's based on the leaderboard, so with 10 contestants the highest score from the judges gets 10pts, 9 for 2nd etc - and then with the viewers it's 10pts for the most votes, 9 for 2nd - and then these are combined.

Secondly they open the lines for the entire week before they perform - and then viewers the hosts have the nerve to complain when viewers vote through someone who can't dance or screwed up!

And thirdly this week viewers votes effectively only influence half the score of one contestant. With just three contestants the judges scores still counted - and only the top combined score got through to the final, with the judges deciding the other.

And talking of which, why have the press been so favourable to Strictly and their decision to record results on Saturday for broadcast on Sunday. Not once have I seen the press "spoil" the result - yet they're quite happy to do it with things like the Big Brother nominations or the X Factor final 12 line up.

The decision to allow the judges to influence the outcome on SCD when down to the final 3 was distinctly odd. Have already allocated the maximum 4 x 10's for Matt Di Angelo, it was a foregone conclusion who they were going to vote to save on Sunday.

Should have been down to a viewer vote IMO at that stage.

Hmm based on that scenario I would tend to agree with you - but then that's my personal opinion that Gethin should have stayed in. On the whole, I really think the judge's vote in Strictly is much better than letting the viewers decided purely because 99% of the time they get it bang on and their decision is based on dancing ability, not favourites like a certain other reality show...

In Strictly, the voting through the week thing might be useful - the system they use always means that some part of the revenue from phone votes goes to Children in Need or Sport Relief.

Nobody has questioned the voting practices on Strictly yet, I feel, because of that fact.

I'm just dead bored of hearing about the X Factor. It finished on Saturday and I would prefer not to hear anything about it until the next abysmal series!

Surely posting in a thread about the show isn't helping your cause?

I would agree in parts about this. Although I really enjoyed the series as a whole and will miss Saturday nights without it, I feel people and the tabloid newspapers should move on! Both Leon and Rhydian are going to be nobodies soon anyway I predict.

So surprise surprise The Sun's pole declared Rhydian the winner by about 4:1...

They've also picked up now on the Westlife show thing with Simon Cowell saying they're could be an upset...

... as was everyone else last week, including many columnists in the press.

I hoped the X Factor would be axed after this series.

But it appears to be back next year. Why can't they do what they did with Soapstar Superstar and end it on a 'high', though I think they've killed and bored to death the X Factor format.

Leon will be an "who's that" or "whatever happened to.." by January...

The X Factor is a highly lucrative show for ITV - it's not going to be axed until people stop watching.

I disagree. They haven't "killed and bored" it "to death" in my opinion, as it still pulls in a mass amount of the viewing public, myself included. I also think it is rather unfair to predict Leon a "who's that" by next year... just look at Shayne or Leona. Of course some may argue that Leon doesn't have "what it takes", whatever "it" is. He rates with me anyway. (Though not in that way..)

I really can't see the show leaving our screens just yet. As 02cashindavid said, it is a cash cow for ITV and rates highly with viewers. It also would be a shame to leave whatever talent there is out there untapped and undiscovered.

I disliked the X Factor this year particularly because it kept stating that the winner would have a "guaranteed shot at the Christmas Number One".

That just removes any special meaning of the Christmas Number One any more. The last vaguely Christmassy song was 2004, Band Aid 20. Since then it's almost always been dominated by either X Factor winners or depressing sh*te.
