I'd say a lot of people couldn't get through to vote for Rhydian as well, that's just not being reported. Dreadful single and it does not deserve to be number 1 or even in the top 20.

Sorry Leon. I wonder how many people didn't get through to vote for him.

Is anyone actually going to purchase that single?

This is getting absolutely ridiculous.

The press are printing 'scandals' on no evidence whatsoever. There's always phones blocked up on such big reality show nights - nothing to do with The X Factor, more to do with people like NTL / Virgin Media (and I have no reason to think they're fixers, more like imcompetent fools! Smile) I tried voting for Leona last year a few times and nothing - completely jammed. Oh, and didn't she win? Hmmmm

Personally I don't think X Factor / ITV ever knowingly scammed viewers in the first place and if they were going to, the most stupid time to do so would be now.

I just love how The Sun can build a story from completely nothing - a few bitter Rydian fans complain and suddenly the nation is up in arms. Give me a break. They've got their own 'vote' in today's paper - you have to phone a premium rate number natrually. No doubt they'll get a full Rydian response, whether that's how the votes go or not. Come on, 12 million people watch The X Factor - you can try as hard as you like Murdoch, you're not going to finish it (it can do that itself!). Go play with Gordon Brown or someone again...

I just wish someone in TV / Radio had the bottle to do their own investigations into the British press. I bet they could bring the whole ship crashing down in a matter of days. Sadly I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon...

Sorry for the long post, but it makes me so mad the biggest crooks in British media have the gaul to accuse TV producers of the 'fixing' of a talant contest. I've always thought journalists were jealous of TV Producers - they never made it, so have been trying to bring them down a peg or two ever since Rolling Eyes

100% completely and totally utterly agree!!!

The press have got off way to lightly with the premium rate scandal this year. Not only there own competitions, but the papers are filled with ads for 0898 numbers and often (though not as much lately) include those dodgy scratch cards too where you have to pay £1.50 a minute to find out if you've won a car - or a pen! And that's not even mentioning the agony helplines too - naturally heavily priced too.

Most of all though I agree with your views on the journalism in this issue - and I'd also like to add as well as TV not having the bottle to investigate the press, nobody has yet had the bottle to investigate the incompetent regulators. ICSTIS arguably came out of this worse than ITV (well, ITV didn't change their name to PhonePayPlus), while OFCOM just haven't learnt from the Celebrity Big Brother debacle in that releasing complaint figures on a daily basis is completely unwarranted and only serves to add fuel to the fire.

OFCOM's report into CBB stated the number of complaints as a reason for taking action - but I'm sure those complaints would be much lower if the figure hadn't been updated two or three times a day.

Yep, not to mention it's just lie after lie in the tabloids. The only thing I believe is the date!

If they were in another line of business, I'm sure ITV / Talkback / Syco could easily have sued the arses off these sharks by now but alas for the moment they need them to keep The X Factor publicity machine going...

Publicity shouldn't come at the cost of being called theives on a daily basis though. I know who I'd trust between TV shows and Newspapers...

ITV have confirmed Leon won by TEN% of the vote, and not ONE%. After Leon sang his verson of the single, the votes for him poured in.

The original poster of this thread (although I have nothing bad to say about him otherwise) has fallen into the same trap as the media by updating the complaint level daily.

Only 80 complained on the night. 1420 others are just mindless sheeple who want to jump on board the bandwagon.

Ludicrous.

But should Leon have won? No, that's what all the fuss is about

I believe it's unfair to call 'fix' just because 1,100 people couldn't get through - TBH, more people probably couldn't get through to vote for Mr Jackson than Mr Roberts. However, they are happy at the result and do not complain, therefore only people with an axe to grind make the complaints. Bandwagon jumping magnifies these effects.

Agreed Smile

Don't roll your eyes at me, kiddo.

You'll have plenty of chance to by Rhydian's records if that's how you feel.
