I also did not understand the constant graphic saying 'Brian Friedman, Choreographer Whatever ' on every single video clip.

God that was so annoying! His name came up 12 times during the show. Yes Brian we get it, you're Creative Director.

I realise in America you have to keep reminding viewers, but we have longer attention spans in the UK.

It could have been for people who had just joined the show halfway through or whatever sothey knew who he was. A lot of people dip in and out of it especially with it being a 2 hour show!

Talking of which, another thing Kimberley could blame other than her voice - the fact she had performed before the show was scheduled to start.

And that she was first. Notice almost always, especially in the earlier stages before we get to know the acts properly, the person who sings first is in the bottom 2.

Rhydian was the only thing good about Saturday's show. I thought that was a solid performance, although I don't think he'll win.

I guess bringing Danni in as a new judge also acts as a precaution against Sharon carrying out any threat of quitting.

You make it sound like Sharon's strops are something they haven't carefully planned in advance to maximise publicity for the show.

Admittedly though, I can see there being one week (maybe next week) when Sharon isn't there, before her dramatic return the week after (because she 'couldn't let her acts down'). In that case, yes, I suppose Danni might be useful.

Anybody know the name of the new music used when the judges are introduced...it's not the same as last years?

I had to laugh when Simon said he'd knock Kimberley out "based on the fact that this is a singing competition".

Since when was TXF about SINGING? Surely it's about making yourself a whore to the media.

Personally would have liked to have seen the cheap PVC sluts go out on Saturday, but there we go.

Nothing really made me watch apart from Niki on Saturday - and even then, I missed that performance as I was in the shower. Found the whole show thoroughly boring and predictable. At some point, for example, they're bound to give Beverley (fat black one) Gloria's "Last Dance".

I think if they took away all the cheesy gimmicks like boxing-style announcements, and maybe used a live orchestra instead of backing tracks, then the show's credibility would soar - at the moment, it just looks like a really expensive karaoke competition with Max Headroom for comedy value.

It's worth pointing out that the backing tracks are custom-made made by some of the best people in the business, although I do have to agree that a live orchestra would give it a better feel. The problem is that if they do anything remotely modern, it will just all be programmed on a Kurzweil so the orch would have nothing to do.

Having now watched the show on tape I don't think it's fair to blame anything other than a poor performance for Kimberley's departure - both performances were pitched badly and the recap contained several mistakes - she messed up the cues at the beginning and she got the lines wrong in one place.

Also what on earth had they done to her in the make-up room?! She looked absolutely awful - I hardly recognised her when the played the "best bits" VT.

Anyone read that Ben Elton book Chart Throb? While it's not very good, sometimes weird decisions like her make up on that show put me in mind of the conspiracies in there...
