There's word of the live shows being put back another week now England are in the Rugby finals.

word from who?

I'm sure the timings will change to allow for a bigger build up, but it'll still air. Maybe they could move some of it to Sunday

I wonder, if they were changing the schedule tonight would it make Tuesday's TV mags

How often have England football team reached a World Cup final ?

I expect they'll move X-Factor back to 5.30pm, to give the RWC a 30 minute lead in, and maybe push the results to 10.30pm. Either that or make better use of ITV4 before / after. There's the potential of course for extra time.

Bit of a scheduling headache, but the RWC Final (featuring a home nation) is a massive event.

Doubt it - the tv mags are printed before the weekend I think.

I do think the Rugby World Cup final should take priority over the X Factor though.

I think the best option for the schedulers at least would be to move the live show to Friday at 8.30pm, then have the results on Saturday at 5.45pm - milking it for an hour then have the RWC from around 6.45pm to 10.30pm.

Talking of live results show, if the X Factor results are going out later in the night (around 10pm), they should get a cheeky mole down to SCD to reveal the result of that too!

Well obviously. But similarly, The X Factor shouldn't be postponed for another week. Even if the running time is snipped or it's moved around a bit.

Well, as I said before the two-hour run time is too long IMO and they could afford to knock at least 15 minutes off and push the results show back a bit later - but the RWC Final should warrant more than a 30 minute build up.

Interestingly before it on Saturday is Dr No - which begins at 3.10pm but is stupidly split by the news at 4.30pm, with the final chunk of the film from 5-5.45pm (according to Digiguide). That is truly awful scheduling.

They won't begin The X Factor too early - I think 5.30pm is the earliest feasible slot, so they'll probably change the film, then have ITV News from 5pm, The X Factor at 5.30pm and the Rugby World Cup from 7.15pm - then set back the late schedule by at least 15 minutes from 10pm.

Simon Cowell having a good old moan about things now, firstly about the BBC daring to schedule Strictly Come Dancing on the same night as The X Factor (though wasn't SCD there first?) - and secondly about the BBC leaking the X Factor line-up 24 hours before the show.

It's alleged that revealing the latest SCD evictee will be part of his revenge.

Perhaps someone needs to point out to Simon Cowell that the ITV website revealed the final 12 on Saturday despite the fact the Sunday show which revealed the lineup hadnt aired. Both the BBC News article and ITV website removed the lineup pretty quickly.

It hasnt been postponed this week - it was never scheduled to be on the 13th. And I doubt they will cancel next week's show - they can always work around it and start the show earlier if needed.

OK, I know it wasn't postponed - my point was it can't miss another week. But like you say, that probably won't be the case.

I agree with Brekkie that we dont need a 2 hour show even if there are 12 acts at this stage. That together with the results is 2.5 hours which is a lot of time to watch a single show for each week (not counting the Xtra Factor as well for those that watch)

I think an hour and a half would be enough with a 15 minutes results show. Therefore the schedule could be this;

5.00pm News
5.15pm X Factor
6.45pm Rugby World Cup Final
10.15pm X Factor Result
10.30pm Parkinson
