Some scenes in TV talent show The X Factor were staged "to get the story right", ITV has admitted.
"Occasionally, we have to go back and re-shoot something," the broadcaster's director of entertainment Paul Jackson said at a launch for the new series.
The shots, thought to be back-stage scenes, were recreated because cameras missed them first time around, he said.
"We tell stories, we don't tell lies," Jackson added. The fourth series kicks off on ITV1 on Saturday.
'Not make-believe'
It sees the programme stretch its age-limits to allow 14-year-olds to take part for the first time.
Pop star Dannii Minogue also joins the judging panel, while Dermot O'Leary takes over from Kate Thornton as host.
The show's creator Simon Cowell also addressed the issue of trust, saying the show was not "make-believe".
"The one thing I can tell you about the show is this - what you see is what happens. We don't censor. We don't sanitise."
Looking forward to sat night TV again. Thankgoodness ITV have the X factor. Bet we'll be able to predict the winner from the beginning. After we've laughed at the deluded, yawned at the sob stories, aaww! at the sweet lovey stories.
Looks like there'll be tweaks to the titles again this year, similar to the titles introduced at the live stages last year, but this time including crowds of people...
