Speaking of which remember Eaton Road? Louis Walsh promising a record contract when they were booted off the X Factor? Never happened did it? I hear they are now performing at universities and the like - at a recent concert the audience were seen booing and throwing items at them on stage - oh dear!

And that's surprising because.....?

You take a bunch of bland, identikit pop "artists" to a university , and you're surprised when they don't exactly go down well?

These acts are teenybopper fodder, no self-respecting music fan would be seen within 20 miles of them except to throw eggs!

Despite my love of the X Factor, no matter how much tweaking they do to the format, the end result is always going to be the same, and now the public are realising it - famous for a week and never again.

Girls Aloud and Will Young are so successful because both shows they were in were in their first (or only) series, and the formats were fresh.

Im interested to see how it will turn out this series, but still think getting rid of Kate was like taking Davina off BB.

It looks like two weeks until the start of this years X-Factor, starting 18th August.

There is a countdown to the new website at http://www.xfactor.tv/

Teaser advert for the new series aired today.

Showed new shots of all 5 judges (including Brian), with Louis saved for the end after a dramatic sequence of clips:

Sharon: "I really... miss ... Louis!"
Simon: "We're bringing back Louis."

(massive whoosh and fast zoom on an angry Louis posing)

We also saw bits of the new audition studio - very blue, despite the logo (according to the trailer endboard) still being red. Lots of laughing, crying and erm... general X Factor stuff.

All looks exciting, cannot wait.

Edited thread title so we can continue to use it for when the series launches. Teaser advert sounds good. After a disappointing series of Big Brother, I'm looking forward to The X Factor more than ever.

Yeah can't wait, People wasting money on voting, people wasting money on the single to come out only for the winner to vanish just in time for the next X Factor the following year.

Welcome to Simon's Cash Cow Factor.

ITV may go the same way as CH4 and reduce the cost of the calls
