I think you're missing the point. Like all the previous spats between Louis and Simon, this was so obviously all carefully planned to drum up publicity for the show. And it's worked.
I don't believe for one minute Louis was really axed.

I wouldn't bet on that one and nobody has confirmed it. As you say Fountain is overall the best for X Factor and has recently had 1000 audience capacity installed, shown in all it's glory on Britain's Got Talent. Fountain probably increased it to 1000 mainly to keep The X Factor contract, so hopefully it will stay.

The show is far from being in trouble - I dont remember you saying Big Brother was in trouble when they brought Jade Goody back for the celeb version but then you wouldnt say anything bad about your precious Big Brother.
IMO as much as I dislike Louis Walsh I actually find him less annoying that Brian based on what I saw of him as a judge on Grease is the Word. So although Louis is irritating I dont mind this change as it means no Brian.
