Does she really have to have the top spot at Christmas though? Mr Cowell is just manipulating the whole thing every year and ruining the excitement in wondering who would be at no. 1. Now we always know who it will be. We can even guess the title - "All This Time", "That's My Goal", and this year a title similarly based on winning - "A Moment Like This". Quite telling that it's a cover of Kelly Clarkson - another winner of a TV talent contest.

I'm not sure there's ever been
that much
of a genuine question as to who would be Christmas number one each year, especially when details of the mid-weeks are leaked. Obviously more records are sold October-December but with record sales the way they are nowadays, it's possible to get to number one with around 25,000 unit sales. That is an extraordinarily low figure.
The X Factor
winner has already pre-sold a million units. You do the math!
during Early summer most of the place where there hold aduction are empty, if you try any later i;m sure there busy with other things like business, shows moving it early have the same problems as well, trying to hold them at just after the new year, might attrack less people to apply! do you think the show could be a hit during Easter/summer?
Im not saying move it to Easter or Summer - I said instead of showing it August-December they could show it September-February so that the winning single isnt at Christmas.
What worries me most is that in today's papers Simon Cowell claims this has been the biggest and best of all the series - yet alot of people here and the critics agree that the changes made haven't done the show any favours at all!
It was interesting watching ITV2 this morning and Shayne Ward's "winners story" - seeing the judges saying exactly the same things about him a year ago as they are saying about Leona now.
Some of the changes made have been good like - I for one have enjoyed some of the theme nights and special guests (only some though!)
The difference is that Leona IMO is miles ahead of Shayne Ward, so she has a better chance of a decent career in the music business.
I think that the Christmas number 1 is a two horse race, between Leona and Take That. Although i bet Simon will be really annoyed if Take That remain at the top spot, considering they appeared on last night's show and dueted with Leona.
Although having said that Take That have been number 1 for the past few weeks, so surely they will probably drop from the top spot next week. However there is a dark horse, called Mcfly, who have a strong fanbase, and could pip Leona at the post. But i am 95% certain that either Take That or Leona will be number 1 next Sunday.
Well id say its Leona for sure. Simon said last night that 20,000 downloads in the first five minutes, so thats well on the way. The Offical Singles Chart for me was totally ruined when they allowed downloads to be accounted in it. The chart from what it looked like lets say 4 years ago is certainly different. All these curly haired, guitar playing, drugged up freaks thinking they are the talented ones.
Sorry about the rant. That said, Leona to have the Christmas number one.
I like the Beatles, similar image to todays act, but style of music is different. Now im not saying all bands like that are rubbish, i do like the song Chasing Cars, and a few others but thats it.
I want the dancing boybands and girlbands back! New Kids On The Block ect.

Funny how a year back we were talking about the song being designed for the winner, Kate and how close the voting always is and a new talent show Simon Cowell was planning!

Oh, how things change in 12 months!
LOL its funny reading that back - I cant believe pad accused me of having the hots for Shayne Ward - I mean as if.
Media Guardian are reporting that Simon Cowell wants to American Idolise the show further by switching the final from the studio to a venue such as the O2 Millennium Dome or Alexandra Palace and making it a "red carpet event" with a celebrity audience!
In principle the final should be a bigger event - just forget making it all about bloody celebrities!
And why just the final - it be interesting to see the show tour the country for the live shows - but that would probably make the spin-off tour less appealing!
