Very close tonight - no outstanding performances and no terribly bad ones either.
Not surprised Eton Road went (but Simon is so scared of that crowd!) - though I think out of the two Ben was the worse.
Also, the judges went mad over his Live and Let Die - I thought it was crap myself!
So, as I predicted weeks ago the McDonald Brothers are top group then!

I don't normally like The MacDonald Bros. but their version of 'I'm Gonna Be' was pretty good. I'll admit I thought it would be a disaster but they won me over.
No surprises Eton Road went this week - they just seemed the weakest of the lot. I'm a bit surprised Ben was in the bottom two right enough.

Yeah and they IMO are rubbish. I thought both performances were boring tonight. Eton Road were miles better and should have stayed in. I bet Eton Road will have more of a career in music than those two.
The only thing that will save this series is if Leona wins, she is the only one who really deserves it out of those left.

When are they getting rid of the 'bottom two' this year? Or are they not this year? It's just that I was half expecting it to be tonight, with each of the contestants doing two songs each.
As for the result, no surprise that Simon got rid of Eton Road - if he got rid of Ben, Sharon'd have no acts left!. Ray really should've gone tonight though - he would've been great at least 50 years ago but he just isn't suited for a career as a solo pop artist - musicals maybe, but not pop!

Horray my wishes were granted!
It's a touugh one to call from here onwards. If we're talking about talent, then sure, The MacDonalds should be out next week. But then they seem to win the public over very easily - god knows why but there we go. So who knows - maybe Ray's time will be up.
I still think the now clichéd prediction of a Ben / Leona final is the most likely outcome.

To be honest, you're absolutely right - her (or possibly Ben, but not sure he could have a big a shot at international success as Leona) winning wouldn't just save this series, but the show as a whole. A credible artist who is a huge success needs to win this year's show otherwise eventually the public (and ITV) just won't see any point to The X Factor.

A simple theory - it's all down to hype!
The McDonalds don't have any, so don't have any expectations to meet.
Leona isn't neccesarily the next Mariah Carey, Ben isn't the next British rock star, Eton Road aren't the next big boyband and Ray isn't the King of Swing.
Due to the judges often over enthusiastic comments the performances generally don't live up to the benchmark set by the judges!
