I just dont buy this - for this and the last series of X Factor, Simon has been the only voice of reason. Ok so he throws in the odd nasty remark (as it's no doubt in his contract!) but he admits when he sees someone as a threat and I genuinely don't believe he sees Eton Rd in that way. Louis just says whatever he thinks will get him the biggest cheer from the crowd, and Sharon usually only says nice things!
As for Eton Rd, they were pretty shocking, swing is not really the genre for a boy band, and they certainly proved it.
There's something slightly Maria-esque about Leona (that's not a compliment) but aside from that she is a stunning singer and indeed is absolutely stunning to look at.
As for Ashley - I think I can see what the hype is about, he has quite a distinctive voice and that's a big factor. He needs to drop the defensive attitude though - forgetting a line is a pretty shocking thing to do (the judges were all pretty kind to him over that) and he should have admitted he screwed up rather than going on about how it's hard to do under pressure etc.

I'm annoyed about his criticisms of Eton Road - I felt they did a good enough job tonight, yet he slated them to hell, which was unjust. I think he sees them as a threat.

Completely agree!
"Its so hard to sing under pressure"
Well none of the other 9 contestants had any problem

I agree totally. Simon is the most honest and genuine out of the 3 judges. He always gives his own acts (and the other acts) constructive comments. He will even vote out one of his own acts if he thinks they are the worst (Conways sisters last year) while Louis voted out Maria when she was clearly one of the best.
With Louis his acts are always wonderful, MacDonald Brothers are so much better than Journey South, one of his acts won last year etc etc its the same thing every week from him. However I have to say well done to Louis for making the right decision last night and voting out the weaker of the 2 acts in the final 2. I half expected him to vote out Simon's act.
Well I think one of Simon's acts is going to win now - Sharon's only chance is with Ben and Louis only chance is with Eton Road. Final 3 will probabaly be Ben, Eton Road and either Ashley or Leona.

I think Sharron lost her better acts last night. Robert is just crap and I don't get the fuss about Ben!
Hopefully Simon will lose an act next week - preferbly Ashley.
There needs to be some changes next year in how the acts are divided.
I've suggested before perhaps splitting the solo artists by sex rather than age would give the female singers a better chance (there are only two left!) - but I think I'd also rather see each judge have one or two acts from each category - though I'm not quite sure how they'd sort that out!

Ouch, ouch ouch ouch. The X Factor did not have a good night last night at all, and the absence of Ant and Dec certainly hurt ITV last night.

The earlier time slot is absolutely ridiculous if you ask me. The X Factor should start straight after SCD.
As usual, when they were both on, SCD was beating X factor by nearly a million viewers. When SCD finished, The X Factor saw a peak of 8.7 million., but as it wasn't on as long, this hardly affected the overall average. When WWTBAM came on, viewers switched back on to BBC One. When X Factor returned, ITV1 was ahead of BBC One. But once Afterlife began, ITV lost nearly 4 million viewers. And the figures barely lifted for the rest of the night, leaving BBC One the main winner of the night, and for the first time, Strictly Come Dancing came out on top.
EDIT: Oops, sorry Dunedin. You got there first.

I don't really think audiences would rise much for either show if SCD and The X Factor were staggered through the night - essentially they've got different demographics targetting old and young!
Having said that though there are a few in the middle who like to follow both - but could you really sit through 90 minutes of SCD then 90 minutes of X Factor and then the results of both?
