She was very good on that. I think she was probably better hosting that then she is with a main show - but I still think she's a great presenter. I remember when Simon was toying with the idea of having Ben be a co-presenter and I'm glad they stayed with just her - as I don't think it would have worked.
Ben's good on The Xtra Factor, keep him where he is.

The ratings are in, and yet another very close result. Once again, Ant and Dec came top with a very impressive 8 Million. Top 10 Ratings:
1 …. 8.0 (36.1%) …. Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway (19:45) ITV (Peak 8.4 Million)
2 …. 7.4 (34.1%) …. Strictly Come Dancing (21:30) BBC1 (Peak 7.8 Million)
3 …. 7.4 (33.2%) …. The X Factor - The Result (21:00) ITV (Peak 7.5 Million)
4 …. 7.2 (34.7%) …. The X Factor (17:45) ITV (Peak 9.2 Million)
5 …. 6.9 (34.3%) …. Strictly Come Dancing (17:45) BBC1 (Peak 7.9 Million)
6 …. 6.1 (27.5%) …. Casualty (20:45) BBC1(Peak 6.5 Million)
7 …. 6.0 (27.1%) …. Robin Hood (19:15) BBC1 (Peak 6.4 Million)
8 …. 5.9 (29.3%) …. BBC News; Weather (22:00) BBC1
9 …. 5.6 (25.5%) …. The National Lottery: 1 vs 100 (20:00) BBC1
10 … 3.9 (19.1%) …. Afterlife (21:30) ITV
When Strictly and X Factor started, Strictly was consistently ahead by around 200,000. At 7pm they were neck and neck with 7.7 Million. When Strictly ended at 7.15pm, SCD's viewers immediately switched over to ITV1, where The X Factor once again saw a massive peak of 9.2 Million. Overall, The X Factor pulled ahead with the performance shows. They attracted the same for the results show, but SCD got a slightly higher share.
Afterlife doesn't seem to be holding up well either, and obviously didn't benefit from going up against SCD.

Looking at the data, and the dummies...er...people who switch over to ITV1 after SCD has finished, I wonder whether BBC One will start linking directly into Robin Hood from SCD i.e. no junction, the presenters of SCD introducing it, in an attempt to retain as much of the SCD audience as possible.
Afterlife is a goner. Desperate ITV won't tolerate these figures for much longer.

"Deperate ITV" - i guess you could say the same for the BBC when they dont have high rated shows.
For me ITV 1 is Saturday evening for me, although 2hr show is far too long.

If people liked Robin Hood they'd stay to watch it. Linking straight into the show wouldn't make much of a difference. Robin Hood certainly isn't the 'big hit' BBC One were hoping it to be.
I think Afterlife will stay with its timeslot until the end of the series, but any hopes of a third series have been dashed.

The thing is, how many programmes on ITV have failed in the past 18 months? Quite a few, and some have been pulled US-style from the schedules. Whereas the only BBC programme I can think of that recieved simular treatment recently was My Hero, for which the last few episodes of the recent (and probably last) series were shown on early afternoons on Sundays.
ITV are pinning their hopes on US imports like Six Degrees, except the problem is that show isn't doing well in the ratings over there and is unlikely to be picked up for the back nine. ITV know a winner when they see one

I would agree with that, but the BBC One schedules on Saturdays are at least competitive year-round with ITV1 now, and in some cases quite close (and in spring/early summer, easy wins with Doctor Who as the flagship). Previously, ever since Noel's House Party started to decline and eventually was axed, ITV had it quite easy on Saturdays. No longer.

She isn't a bad presenter and is firmly in the Davina mould and would be a natural replacement
Is that supposed to be a compliment?
that's what i was wondering! Thornton is just a distinctly average reader of the autocue - nothing special.

Whatever we think about lovely Kate, she is definitely better than the offering on the other side of Tess and Bruce.
