The reality though is however impressive the new set is, after a couple of weeks it'll just be the norm and they might as well have kept last year's set!
Coming from someone who LOVES the old live X factor format:
1. Titles are not too bad, like the new styled X, but the sound FX get rid of the impact of the music
2. Opening shot - not sure about that fish eye lens thing, thought a crane shot would look better
3. studio - stage is TOO SMALL!!! the audience are leterally on it, it looks way to cramped for me and only takes up a small strip at the front like on pop stars the rivals, not a traditional high stage. Slightly hard to watch to be honest and get bearings and loads of close ups are used, which presents loads of porblems like other in shot cameras, but i guess the crew still need to get used to it.
4. Graphics - LOVE the graphics in the background
Overall, good, great graphics, good presenting from kate as always and good music!
Edit: actually, stage doesnt look as small as i thought, great camera work for eaton road,
Titles are awful. Set is brilliant (reminds me of Pop Idol) though the performance stage does look a little small. Plus, why not add the guest to the judging panel?
When did X Factor become American Idol?
1. They have a question area (like American Idol)
2. Spliting screens (like American Idol)
3. At least 5 flatscreen TVs (like American Idol)
4. Themed nights (like American Idol)
5. Platform around judges desk (like American Idol)
Can you see what I'm getting at.
Great new set, not so sure about the titles now - nice idea, but not quite there I don't think.
As someone mentioned LOTS of cameras and crews in shot tonight. Hopefully this is just the team getting used to the new layout, or maybe an own goal has been scored by laying the studio out in this way.
