When is ITV going to make so decent entertainment like they used many moons ago?

Your wish is ITV's command.

"What do you reckon, is it going to be Rock, Paper or Scissors this time round? 0901 656 6000, calls cost an arm and an leg, press 1 for rock, 2 for paper or 3 for scissors. If you choose the right outcome you win a paper cup, an empty bank balance when the phone bill comes and a free trip to the local loony bin for partaking in this nonsense."

Sounds rubbish. They'll be commissioning 'Celebrity Noughts and Crosses' next.

Always think they've missed the opportunity of using an app for some kind of interactive show. I'm aware they did that Alexander Armstrong show a few years back but they've not experimented with anything since. Was trying to think of potential formats and 1vs100, but with the whole population instead of the 100, could be interesting.

We've had that with Celebrity Squares.

5 Gold Rings is their best attempt at an app play along.

Of course The X Factor has already effectively been axed and ITV have very much gone back through their archives to find the content to replace it. No doubt though that although shows like Catchphrase, The Chase and Family Fortunes are more than a match for the ratings TXF got towards the end (though probably not in the demos) they still need a show in the autumn that captures the imagination.

Has the quality of primetime entertainment truly dropped, or was there just nothing else on many moons ago?

I wish it would be just axed, it's well past its sell by date. I'm so tired of these judged singing and dancing entertainment shows, we've got so many of them, when is ITV going to make so decent entertainment like they used many moons ago?

You’ve not seen the timeline of the thread have you, You’ve just jumped in based on the title.

The last discussion about X Factor 2021 was last August, it isn’t a current discussion. the most recent post was just those high quality videos of the titles from 2019

ITV had the rights to Rising Star which was app-based but decided not to go ahead with it after mixed reception elsewhere. That was back in 2014.

Starstruck is a new show I've heard about, which is basically Stars In Their Eyes but contestants get put into groups of three. Not sure if that means a trio of Adeles or three different artists. In any case, it isn't a sustainable format as it either limits the range of people being impersonated or groups perform unconnected songs in the style of artists, which is comedy karaoke more than anything else.

Part of the reason the original SITE ran so long and was successful is because it was taken fairly seriously and there was always somebody that hadn't "been done" yet.

Hadn't heard about the groups of three thing - I thought the difference between Starstruck and Stars in Their Eyes is that Starstruck will have a judging panel.
