Let’s not forget the act that came second two years ago didn’t even make it past the six chair challenge before somehow securing a spot in the live shows!
I reckon they’ll go all out on securing someone big to fill for Sharon as the commitment is probably less than it would be if they were doing the live shows, especially now that all the auditions appear to be happening in London this year.
I would've assumed fifth judge. How can you assign a judge a category when they haven't seen what the acts can do in the auditions?

The reasons are very much known - she has a year left of her contract.
The Gary Barlow / Tulisa / Kelly Rowland / Louis era feels like such a long time ago now but that was a great example of refreshing the show (with the obvious exception of Louis). It was such a change that, for a couple of years, it didn’t even feel like a SyCo show at all. The manipulation and the faux drama were all still there, but the frontman for it all not being there made a huge difference. They need to be that brave again.

And definately think post the glory years 2011-2013 were far better than 2014 onwards. Indeed although ratings did fall during those three years Simon was in the US it wasn't until he returned they really went into freefall. He is as predictable as Louis really and I think the really bold thing for him to do would be to sack himself.
P.S. Talking about The Voice earlier notice ITV now have a "best of" edition airing on weekend lunchtimes with highlights from around the world. Got Talent did something similar a couple of years back.

I spotted this yesterday, bit of an odd one and I think it was produced by Talpa in the Netherlands. Had a voiceover I’d never heard before, a noticeable lack of credits and some BBC Voice clips which I doubt would have made it to an ITV produced show.

It’s never really recovered from the series that Caroline and Olly (tried) to host.
The year after with Honey G wasn’t too bad, but the most recent series was instantly forgettable.
It needs the judges arguing with each other, it needs a few joke acts, it needs Dermot revealing which acts are DEFINETELY through next week (with some audience nutter shouting ONLY THE YOUNG week in week out even after they’ve been eliminated) and the resulting judges vote, without all of that it basically just becomes another generic singing / karaoke show.
