The Voice has somehow hit 8 regular series and now outrates X Factor but although around the same ballpark figure as it's never hit the heights of The X Factor and isn't head to head with a rival show it doesn't feel look like a failing show on paper.
The Voice looked like it was going to be a big hit in its first series all the way up to the live shows. It was getting 9-10 million in the ratings up until that point. During the live shows it dropped all the way to 4m. Since then it's rated decently, but it never reached the heights X Factor or Britain's Got Talent did. I feel as if they blew that chance by losing so many viewers in that first series.

Yeh well you have to appease all of the offended and outraged on social media who have Ofcom on speed dial these days. It was better back in the day when nobody really got so uptight about a Saturday night light entertainment show.
They recovered it as well as they could and showed every act in the same context so as not to appear to favour / disadvantage any act. But still you can't please everyone....

According to their terms and conditions, they could have either postponed the vote or cancelled the vote altogether and deferred to the judges.
suppose only way to achieve a fair vote legally

Yes, people seem to worry more about a slight disadvantage in a TV show route than potentially illegal activity in a national referendum.
I think ITV could have split the difference by referring viewers last night to the afternoon repeat and opening lines then before having a standard results show with extended but not full edits of the performances.
What makes me laugh is people complaining about the flash vote and how it doesn't give them time to vote. FFS it takes 30 seconds at most to vote.
Legally? It ain’t a bleeding general election.

Well that was pacey. All of the performances, guest acts, vote, results & sing off not dragged out & all wrapped up in about 1 hr.
Maybe that's how it could be reinvented on a Saturday night. Obviously they'd need to commission another show to fill the other hour.

All tonight has proved is how horrifically drawn out the 'normal' show is. Twelve acts performed in full, two guest performances, an act eliminated, and a sing-off... all within an hour. Just shows the amount of waffle, adverts, and filler there is normally.
