If this vote goes ahead (which it will because tonight show is pre-recorded) this will be up there with the 2007 televote scandals. You cannot ask the public to compare clear vocal performances with those whose vocoder went into overdrive. You just can't ask the public to spend money on a problem out of the performers control.
I don't even know how they're planning on doing votes based on a pre-recorded broadcast anyway, unless they did two straight "live" shows and then will just edit out the person in next week's broadcast if that person leaves this week. They would have been better off either bringing the live broadcasts forward or just not airing any "leaving votes" until Robbie is properly back.

I expect they might just exclude the two singers who were effected from the public vote and give them a free run to next week, and hopefully ensure those two phone numbers don’t work.
Might ITV not just suggest that people rewatch on Xfactor on ITV Hub or use the iTunes recordings of performances to get the proper sounding versions?
I did think it was weird that considering it's normally live - that they had not mentioned the sound issue, but the fact it was pre-recorded explains why they didn't I guess.
Was it a mic effect for one of the performances just not switched off? Or a proper fault?

Since when have X Factor viewers voted on "vocal performance". They'll probably benefit more from the issue than lose votes anyway.
