I don't see how much worse the ratings can be if they clashed.

Maybe they should return to air it earlier in the evening from 5:30 before Strictly gets on air.

Or squeeze it in before GMB first thing in the morning.

That would probably lead to lower ratings, especially before the clocks go back

Wouldn't affect them that much, with the last 3 of the 4 seasons starting the lives around that time.

I know I'm in a minority but I don't care for the auditions; I normally join in at the live shows which I find far more interesting (probably because of my interest in the production of these sort of shows in the same way there's a huge interest in Eurovision here.) So their truncation has actually alienated me.

Yes - even at its peak I never took much interest in the auditions stage. I do find it odd considering The Voice launches with full studio produced audition shows that they have stuck with just an empty stage in front of a screen.

Didn't X factor originally have Popstars/Pop Idol style low-key auditions?

They then radically revamped and went for huge, overblown auditions with a large audience in venues bigger than Fountain studios (so the live shows felt smaller?)

They now appear to have downscaled the auditions again?

I think the problem with the big, overblown, auditions on X factor was that it gave the lie to 'just turn up and you could sing in front of the judges' - as there were obviously pre-auditions and backing tracks (I think)

The Voice doesn't have the same 'lots of people queuing in a regional location' conceit that X factor does' and doesn't pretend that it's not a heavily produced show from the start...

No we went back to the rooms, and now it's overblown auditions again at Wembley.

So, they are continuing with cramming the live shows. Strictly never has double eliminations, and seems to benefit from their 13 week run, whereas it now feels X Factor wants to rush the live shows through as fast as they can.

I don't know why they don't follow the BGT format of auditions for a few weeks then have the live shows every night for a week.

Another thing that is damaging the audience figures, is that it's on so late now compared with the old days. It didn't finish until after 10.30 last Saturday - that's too late.
They're avoiding clashing too much with Strictly, that's why.

November 4th will see the results show move to 8.30 to avoid it....

They can't even be bothered to record a new promo - the one they're using with Dermot plugging the live shows is clearly on last years set with last years judges.

Dermot's suit also changes from grey to black if you're quick enough to catch it

Yes it’s too different shots. The Dermot shot I think is from this series as it has the rotating squares on the video wall.

The wide shot is obviously last year with the old panel.
