Wouldn't be surprised at all if ITV air the kids version in January 2017, it does as well as you'd expect and that's the last anyone ever hears of The Voice. Job done.

Somebody get Dermot back here... now! That made Steve Jones look slick.
Also dreadful tonight was "Rita, please intro your act, please."
Oh and the fact no one told Olly and Caroline to move from behind the bottom two. Looked dreadful. A lot of this series has been an actual shambles. I never was a fan of Dermot but gosh I can really appreciate him now.
Dermot made his exit at just about the right point. I really hope Olly and Caroline are not made the scapegoats for the disasterous ratings this year as although they're not without fault most of the presenting problems have been down to the direction they've been given. Just a simple change of positioning for the final vote with the two of them either to the side of both contestants are standing either side with the contestants in the middle would sort out those issues.
This series though really is dying on it's arse and I bet Simon will still be too quick to blame the wrong things. Losing Dermot and Louis certainly aren't the problems, and although it wasn't helpful the Rugby World Cup scheduling can't be blamed either. It's the core format especially of the live shows once again where it is falling apart - ratings have been falling at the live stage every year since 2011 and yet the live shows today are essentially exactly the same as they were back then. And they're still more than a little bit too long - they lost another two acts tonight yet only chop 5 minutes off the show next week.

Assuming ITV have got the rights to the The Voice, I wouldn't be at all surprised if next year's series of The X Factor is the last. I cannot honestly see XF's ratings improving next year. That said, if ITV do start showing the regular version of The Voice in place of XF after next year, I can't see it lasting very long. It could quite easily flop badly for ITV.
I haven't watched the X Factor for the last 5 years, but, after reading some of the excuses of low ratings from Simon and his production team, I think it's clear they're clutching at straws for reasons of it losing popularity.
The ratings measurement system with BARB isn't perfect, but it was good enough for them when they had over 17m viewers; now it's getting as low as 6m it is a bit rich to complain about how the ratings are recorded.
Sounds like I haven't missed much by completely avoiding the show this year, then. Peaked in 2010 and has been downhill ever since IMO.
As replacements go however, I think The Voice is the only show I wouldn't want to see in place of The X Factor in the schedules - not a fan of the format at all.
