The X Factor 2014:

Was this design never used? I know they originally used a similar X but the stage was never like that, was it?

Yes, this was used if i recall correctly. Maybe only one series though? Series 1 was the x you think of when it was flat on the ground. Maybe this was series 2. Or, what I'm thinking it could be is remember when they had the celebrity special one year?

That was used for S2 and for x factor-battle of the stars.

Yep. It was then massively revamped for S3 and again for S6.

Was the series 3-6 set the one that had the dot matrix style ticker announcing who was about to perform? I don't remember seeing it in recent series.

That's the one. The longer, thinner and shorter stage. I just don't think that it made as big of an impact as the originals (1&2) and 6+.

In terms of design it was modern in comparison, but the lack of a big grand stage was the downfall for me.

Did they not create this thinner set to get a higher amount of audience members in?

Maybe but then the one now surely does that even better? Which questions why they didn't just go straight to the one they have now or something similar.

It's a nice departure from what we've had before. Looking forward to this series.

Certainly hoping for a new set if that is what you mean.

X Factor seems to be going pink this year if the image from boot camp and the new backdrop from 'The Room' are anything to go by.
