This TOWIE approach to auditions stage is such a turn off for me. May as well put it on ITV2 now woth all the other sinilar sh*te.

It seems to have been reduced a lot to just the odd clip instead of an entire scene. Tonight feels much more like an old style type of show with the amount of auditons broadcast and it's actually been quite entertaining so far for the first time this series.

There was a report in the papers earlier this week that Simon was overseeing the editing due to the ratings, which may explain the changes.

A step in the right direction with tonight's episode, I think I only saw one clip of a video shot at someone at their home - and it was only on for a second or so with a voiceover.

Great final audition as well, very heartwarming.

Agree it has improved tonight.

That said of course the first part was edited like previous weeks and so suggested more of the apparent ratings losing stuff

So I've finally watched episode 1 that I had on my TiVo (whoever that is) and understand why people kept making towie comparisons. What an utter load of rubbish. I mean there is suspension of disbelief and then there is that.

"so what do you think of Mel B being guest judge?" yes because I'm meant to believe the cameras captured that completely off hand in such a glossy manner. What tripe.

At least when you saw bits of their family and stuff you could guess that they'd be half decent and they'd gone to do a bit of filming afterwards. This just smacks of treating the audience like idiots and I can see why its backfired so badly.

Poor.

Does anyone know the artist who was singing the version of Your Song in the background when they interviewed the last guy who was quite nervous on tonight's show.I love that version and can't remember who sang it!

You should watch tonight's episode, it's a return to form IMO in comparison to all previous episodes of this series and it seems most, if not all, of the TOWIE stuff has gone.

The first bit can kind of be forgiven because it was only really setting the location. There was only one TOWIE-esque fake conversation scene towards the end in the terribly cliched end audition, but other than that it was very fast paced and I felt a lot of auditions were shown tonight.

If they can keep it up they have a fighting chance of redeeming themselves before the auditions end next week. The real test is tomorrow night to see if they can keep it up, and to see how Nicole slots back in after Geri & Mel B tonight.

Ewan McGregor - it was from Moulin Rouge.

X Factor USA starts on 27th September at 8pm on ITV2. Promos being aired this week, billing it as 'coming soon' and spotlighting new judge Britney Spears.

The show kicked off last night in the US, however, no titles were used.

Australia is getting a new set for it's live shows next week, so be interesting to see if that's a glimpse of what we might get - although as they haven't leaked any news of a new set yet we're probably not getting one.
