There was a video available of the Final from 2010 (with One Direction, Rebecca Furguson and Matt Cardle) where someone had managed to record a satellite feed with the talkback. Was very interesting to hear how it all works behind the scenes.

Random thought, but does this mean that (like EBU do every year for tech and dress rehearsals of the Eurovision) theyd have a separate satellite stream for it?

Either way, is this video still available anywhere --- and perhaps in anticipation for this years final, any way to arrange to see a cheeky look behind the scenes?

I think the satellite feed with the talkback was just used for the final in order to link up to the hometowns of the finalists?

IIRC the sat feed was a precautionary measure after the BT Tower power failure earlier in the series, and may not need to be repeated if there is now sufficient redundancy.

The satellite feeds with Gallery talkback were just used for the OB contributions from the finalists' hometowns during the final of X Factor. The satellite back-up provided by BT last years after the Tower incident was only a Transmission feed of the programme to Chiswick Park, without any gallery feed included on it.

Does anyone else get as annoyed as I do about the inconsistency of graphics and fonts used on The X Factor? The Australian and US ones are good, using pretty much just something similar to Eurostile, but we've got that, Gill Sans, Swiss, something else for competitions - it's been a mess for years now and every year I hope will be the year it changes.

The X Factor have confirmed today that Lucy Spraggan has withdrawn from the competition:
Quote:
Lucy isn't well enough to perform this weekend so she has decided to withdraw from the competition. We are all sorry to see her go and wish her all the best for the future. She has been a fantastic contestant.

And a statement from Lucy herself:
Quote:
I am gutted not to be able to continue on this journey but I'm not well enough to perform. To accept another free pass having missed last weekend would not be fair on the others in the competition. I wish them all well. I would like to express my thanks to everyone who has supported me. There is no way that this setback will prevent me from fulfilling my ambition. You'll be hearing from me again very soon.

Although the official story is that Lucy is ill- there is a rather more worrying rumour making the rounds.

Digital Spy are also suppressing and deleting posts from people discussing this, which seems rather odd Confused

Is that a news embargo?

Is that a news embargo?

Looks like it might be- understandable, however by stopping people discussing it on DS for example, it's actually strengthened the argument that it's probably true- or else why would they be so keen to remove all traces?

To be fair that is probably for the best. If true, Lucy won't need it splashed allover the front pages and generating so much discussion, and the show could do without the negative publicity. Although not directly a result of the show itself, it could still end up being X Factors 'race row' and finishing it off altogether.

I agree- anyway I shan't speculate any further.

Forgot to mention that the show confirmed that Lucy won't be replaced with a previous contestant/wildcard, so presumably there was going to be a double elimination at some point, which has now been scrapped.

The same bug as in 2009 happened, they showed a part of the purple video loop with the X spinning on screen. If someone records the live show in 1080p, it would be great to share these few seconds on the forum!

The logo generally speaking seems to look better in any colour than red. Must say to our set looks so much better than the US version - I suspect they've spent far more on the Hollywood stage but it just looks like a cheap knock off - not having a circular stage really kind of compromises the design, while the judges there are practically below the stage.
